Full description

Along with the likes of Disney Sports Football and Disney Sports Basketball, Disney Sports Motocross is one in a compendium of GBA sports titles to bear the Disney hallmark. Similar to the NES title, Excitebike, Mickey and company's latest outing sees the motley crew engaged in the extreme sport of motocross racing. Following the action from a 2D side-scrolling perspective, players maneuver their character of choice -- Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Donald, Goofy, or Pete -- through outlandish tracks laden with jumps, bumps, ramps, and hills, while at the same time performing tricks and stunts. As in Excitebike, players can engage a boost, but doing so for prolonged periods will cause the engine to cease. To avoid this, players will need to cool the engine by acquiring specific power-up items scattered about the track.

Also strewn about each track are items and colored gems. By collecting the latter, racers can build up their "Trick Meter" through three levels of power. The first two levels grant more air off ramps, while the last level lets players perform a move unique to each character that will adversely affect other racers. The title offers six modes of play, including the main Challenge Cup mode where racers compete for points and ultimately, the prize cup. Exhibition mode is a single race event on the track of your choosing, while Score Attack and Time Attack have players vying for the best trick score and track time, respectively. A Tutorial mode provides 12 lessons designed to allow players to get to grips with the various game mechanics and lastly, players can compete in three mini-game events -- Tire Panic, Brake or Splash, and Rock Crush. The multiplayer component of the title allows players to trade acquired items with one another or compete against up to three other players.
