Full descriptionEdgar Rice Burroughs' enduring ape-man swings onto a handheld system for the first time since the 1999 GBC game. Disney's Tarzan: Return to the Jungle offers flashier graphics, better sound, more weapons, 21 luscious environments, and additional skills for the king of the jungle. In the first of four worlds, players begin as young Tarzan and learn the ropes (or vines) with the help of Terk. The hero learns to swim, swing, climb, tree surf, and sling his boomerang. Once Tarzan reaches adulthood, a spear replaces his boomerang and he can use his patented call to summon jungle beasts for help.
In the second of four worlds, Tarzan must explore the tree village, search for the kidnapped Jane with Professor Porter, discover the Lost City of Opar and the Temple of Evil with Queen La, and rescue Jane and the Golden Monkeys of Jabon. The third world, also five levels, has Tarzan tracking interloping soldiers through underground caverns and icy caves where he finds a vast cavern with a shipwreck. In the final world, Tarzan follows the soldiers while avoiding traps and enemies to the Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs where he must foil the mercenaries' plans to steal dinosaur eggs.
A wide variety of jungle inhabitants, both two and four-legged, populate Tarzan's jungle world including baboons, bees, blowfish, boars, bounty hunters, pirates, crocs, dinosaur hunters, man-eating plants, panthers, piranhas, porcupines, raptors, scorpions, snakes, triceratops, and turtles. During the adventure, players monitor Tarzan's status via a health meter, life indicator, and spear counter, while also collecting bananas for points and extra lives. Game saves occur at various checkpoints throughout each level.
Based on Edgar Rice Burroughs? classic tale, Disney?s Tarzan: Return to the Jungle finds Tarzan on quests that vary from locating the Fountain of Youth to discovering The Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs. Besides being able to swing from vines, swim through treacherous waters and engage in tree-surfing action, Tarzan will now be able to wield his trusty boomerang, mighty spear and famous animal call to protect his friends and jungle home. Along the way, Tarzan?s friends, Jane, Terk and Professor Porter will join him on his jungle adventures.
