Abstract

NBA Live is back on the PlayStation and this time it includes such features as multiple seasons and a practice mode. You can also hit the hardwood in either the faster paced Arcade mode or the more realistic Simulation mode. While all of the NBA teams and ballplayers are here, user options allow athletes to be drafted, signed, traded, created, and released. NBA Live 99 also includes play-by-play speech and motion-captured moves.

NBA LIVE '99 gives you control of every aspect of the game, right down to which fouls get called and how often they're called. In other words, you can make the game as complicated as the real thing or make it a bare bones version and of pick-up basketball. Along with the standard Exhibition, Season, and Playoff modes, you also get a 3-point Shooting Contest that will test your long-range skills. As your team's GM, you can trade and release players as you see fit in order to construct your own dream team. You can also create players and add them to your team to fill holes on the roster. When you're on the court, you can call plays on the fly or just let you teammates handle it, leaving you free to concentrate on getting open. You can also take on a friend in the Multiplayer mode and see who is the real king of the hardwood. With NBA LIVE '99, if you've seen it in the real NBA, chances are you'll see it here too.
