Canadian developer BioWare applies its RPG expertise to Sega's hurried hedgehog in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Rather than continue the ultra-fast platform action for which the series is known, Sonic Chronicles instead finds gamers using a top-down perspective to explore 20 unique environments where combat takes the form of turn-based battles and stylus-heavy mini-games. Other classic role-playing conventions come along for the ride as well, including the formation of parties for team battles, multiple character classes, an epic storyline, plenty of dialogue, and the ability to collect and trade items with friends using Nintendo's Wi-Fi connection. There are 11 playable characters in all, including series mainstays Tails, Shadow, and E-123 Omega, and each character comes with unique skills that can be further customized with "Chao creatures" that serve as attribute upgrades.
