AbstractMK MYTHOLOGIES: Sub-Zero focuses on the popular MK character Sub-Zero, as it delves into his past with Scorpion, and how he got involved in the Mortal Kombat tournament. The gameplay is similar to the original MK series, with the exception being that you are now free to roam around and pick up items, making it more of a side-scrolling fighter. Gamers can expect all of the combos and fatalities from the series, as well as many familiar faces.

Full descriptionMidway decided to do something a little different with its Mortal Kombat franchise. They decided rather than to make a whole new MK game, they'd make a game that focused on one particular character from the popular series; a mini MK if you will. They'd shine some light on his past and present gamers with a story, rather than mindless fights to win a tournament. The character of choice is Sub Zero, and the game is aptly titled Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero.
Mythologies remains true to its parent series (up until Mortal Kombat 4, anyway) in a few aspects: all the characters are digitized and the game is still 2D. But unlike the other games in the series, this one's a platform adventure. You're not just fighting to win a tournament, you're fighting to find out the entire back story of Sub Zero. Sure, you'll still be beating up lots of bad guys, but the game is basically a "jump from platform to platform" game. Midway even throws in some RPG elements, such as item collection and a menu screen, to spice things up a bit.
