As the large-scale online battles rage on in the main game, this first add-on for Digital Illusions' shooter sequel deploys highly trained soldiers to perform tactical maneuvers around strategically critical equipment and locations. Reminiscent of the theme of the original Battlefield 1942 expansion, Secret Weapons of WWII, Special Forces focuses on experimental weaponry, high-tech gadgets, and specially qualified operatives. Players can fight as one of six types of special forces soldiers: U.S. Navy SEALs, British SAS operatives, Russian Spetznas, MEC operatives, or specialist rebel insurgents. With such commandos in its starring roles, the game features more clandestine, small-squad missions, though it still supports the main game's multiplayer gameplay, with as many as 64 human competitors in the same online battlefield.
