AbstractDonald Duck appears in his first PlayStation 2 videogame with DISNEY'S DONALD DUCK: Goin' Quackers. The game is a pure platformer, like SUPER MARIO BROTHERS, though with many more 3D elements. The game features over 20 single-player levels and numerous bonuses to discover, such as extra levels or different costumes. The story is simple, and, though the game looks suited for a young audience, any fan of platformers will be sure to enjoy the fun gameplay and impressive visuals.

Full descriptionDaisy, ace reporter and girlfriend of that hot-tempered Donald Duck, has discovered the mysterious temple of the evil magician Merlock. But in the middle of her breaking story, she disappears. It can only mean one thing. Merlock has taken her captive, and stowed her away somewhere in the world. Donald Duck must find her, but he can only do so with the help of his friend, wacky inventor Gyro Gearloose. Gyro's new teleporter will be able to locate the wizard and Donald's girl, but only if he can find all the pieces of the weathervane to give it enough power.
The hero of Disney's Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers is, of course, the hard-to-understand, occasionally-insane duck that everyone knows and loves. Join him as he takes on 20 levels of danger and obstacles, leaping over pits and keeping enemies at bay in an attempt to save Daisy from Merlock and bright goodness back to the world.
Like the Crash Bandicoot series, the focus of this 3D platformer is action rather than running around giant worlds collecting things. The game features side-scrolling levels as well as levels where you're running forward toward the horizon. As Donald Duck, you will battle Merlock's hordes of evil, progressing closer to his fortress by collecting the parts to the weathervane in four different worlds. Along the way he'll meet old enemies like the Beagle Boys and Magica De Spell, and also find old friends like his nephews and Gladstone Gander, the luckiest duck in the world.
But Donald will need to keep his temper down if he is to succeed. Getting hit once will send him into a dangerous rage, and if he gets hit again before calming himself down, he's likely to explode...literally.
Donald Duck has headed to the PlayStation 2, and he's on a mission to rescue Daisy. Take control of Donald Duck and confront wacky characters, amazing obstacles and Donald's explosive temper. Be ready to run into some of the other well known characters of the game such as Huey, Dewey, Louie and Gyro Gearloose, too. Get ready for some good old cartoon action, because Daisy can't rescue herself.
Editorial reviewSource:
AmazonDaisy, a television journalist, has gone to Merlock's castle for an unannounced interview. Merlock doesn't appreciate Daisy's in-your-face interview tactics and holds her hostage while he comes up with a plan to take over the world. So, it's up to Donald Duck to rescue Daisy in
Goin' Quackers.
The game gives players instructions as they progress through the levels. When you come to something new, Donald's nephews explain what's going on. While not having to read an instruction book is nice, the game explains so many simple concepts from the beginning that this feature hinders more than it helps. For instance, gift boxes contain power-ups. Power-ups are good. You should get them.
The game's graphics quality varies greatly throughout. For example, some of the buildings show great detail while, in another area, it can be difficult to tell whether you're facing a cliff or a thorny plant. Also, while Donald is superbly animated, the game's many textures look grainy compared to those of other PS2 titles.
The sound, on the other hand, is spot on. The sound effects are also pleasantly cartoon-like, but the voices are annoying, especially Donald's.
Experienced gamers will blow through this one, assuming they want to, and younger gamers will find the game sufficiently challenging and fun. But gamers young and old will agree: There's nothing to like about Donald's new voice. --Todd Mowatt
