Finally taking the plunge into HDTV.  I've had two HD TVs for years, but just stuck with basic cable.  I wouldn't even go digital at the cost of $6 more a month.  I can go HDTV at the cost of a box ($280 taxes in) and add the sports HD package for an additional $10/mo.  That's the good news.

The bad news, I had to agree not to mention putting either of the dogs down for a year.  No matter what they do  On one hand I'm pretty excited when I think about the HD hockey and football I'll be watching, but I've never been so disappointed in my life.

Once you've already got your HD, it's not like taking it back is really going to be an option.  So, at worst, you can't talk about putting the dogs down for a month or two.

Could be a blessing in disguise.  My new TV hunt has been postponed indefinitely as apparently we need furniture for 75% of our house.  Our rottie has almost knocked our DLP over a few times, mostly as a result of seeing a dog on TV in standard def.  Maybe he'll finish the TV off if the dog is in HD.

I will whine, moan, complain and insult people if I have to watch pretty much anything in SD now. After having HD you'll never go back.

I've been harassing AT&T monthly now to get service in my area.  With Comcast, all I am able to get in HD are the premium channels, local channels, and sports channels.  With AT&T, for the same cost, just about every channel I watch, from Discovery to History to Military, all those popular channels below 100, have an HD derivative.

When questioned about their lack of HD content, I spent 40 minutes on hold while they 'checked to see if there were more channels'.  lol

My dad wouldn't get HD for the longest time, while my FiL has had it for years.  Needless to say we visited my in-laws more than my family, especially during college football bowl season.  My dad finally got HD when he got a 58" plasma and ever since then he always ask if we had HD yet if he was coming to visit...

I didn't think I was ever going to get my father to switch to dvd's. He started getting them 2 years ago but still watches vhs. His transition was one of the vhs/dvd combosAnyways I finally talked him into moving up from the ps2 to a ps3 and right after the switch he bought a 42" plasma without me telling him to and even uses hdmi cables. I'm so proud of him
