2011 and All-Time GGN stats for all platforms

Burnout Paradise  [GOOZLYMPIC EVENT]

While this is a Goozlympic event, any Goozex member is welcome to participate.  We may play some casual matches, but the game night format will be geared towards a competition.  Should a participant who is not a part of a Goozlympic team win or medal the game night event, they will be assigned to one of the existing teams.

Thursday February 16th at 9PM EST

Organizer:  devyanks90

Additional Hosts:  TBA

Confirmed players:

Maybes:

Burnout Paradise game night specific notes:

This is a Goozlympic event - the game night format may be a little different than most GGNs.

Post your XBL gamertag to this thread to sign up.  All Goozex members are welcome to join.

Be sure to add the organizer (devyanks90) and any additional hosts (TBA) to your XBL friends list so you are able to join any available game.  Please double check this thread prior to Thursday's game night to verify any additions or changes in game hosting.

Unless otherwise specified, you can directly join any host's game though the XBL or in-game menus.  If you have any difficulty joining a hosted game, please send a message over XBL to one of the game hosts so they can assist you.

We will be playing - various competitive multiplayer modes.  A portion of the night will feature scored rounds for the Goozlympics with the highest scoring players advancing to a final medal round.

Keep things friendly.  It's fine to play to win and have a little talking of the smack, but keep it lighthearted.

Be sure to download any game updates prior to the start of game night.

DLC is not required.

Upcoming Games

February  Winter 2012 Goozlympics

Feb 16th @ 9 PM EDT - Burnout Paradise - Organizer: devyanks90

Feb 23rd @ 9 PM EDT - Call of Duty Black Ops - Organizer: Mechazawa005

Suggestions for future MP nights (Post any game night suggestions to this thread):  Shadowrun, MoH, Magic the Gathering, Bomberman, Need For Speed, , Mortal Kombat, Forza 4, Undertow, Red Dead Redemption

For anyone new to or interested in joining future 360 MP nights: There is another thread here where you can post your gamertag and list the multiplayer games you have.  This helps decide the future games we will play.

Here is a Calendar of upcoming events.

Other Official Goozex Game Nights (tokens for participating/organizing events - read the rules)

Tokens/Prizes for Participating in and Organizing Official Goozex Game Nights

Goozex (very generously) is sponsoring these events, which means you can receive tokens for participating.  You are welcome to play in as many GGNs as you like, but you can only earn 1 participation token per week, regardless of the number of events you participated in during that week.  If it's your first Goozex Game Night then you will receive two tokens for participating.  The organizer of any game night event will receive two tokens.

The following restrictions apply to earning tokens from GGNs:

  • You can only earn 1 participation token per week, regardless of the number of events you participated in during that week (though you are welcome to play any/all game nights)
  • You must participate for at least 1 hour
  • The official game night event must have a minimum of 5 participating Goozex members
  • No disruptive, inappropriate or douche-like behavior

Please note: All participation/organization tokens are typically credited the following week.

Notes regarding being a Game Night Organizer:

As organizer you need to make sure you add all the confirmed and maybe players to your XBL list so that you can invite them into the game when we start playing.  If multiple rooms are needed you need to find secondary hosts, you can just do this the night of the event via party chat.  You need to keep track of everyone that played and send me a list of who played for at least an hour so that I can e-mail the list to blackcoyote.  Thanks in advance for anyone that is brave enough to organize an event.

If you would like to organize any of the upcoming events, post to this thread indicating which game(s) you would be interested in organizing.

Also see the "Guide to being the weekly Organizer" section in the 2nd post on this thread.

Guide to being the weekly Organizer:

The week before the 360 night

  • Follow the thread (obviously), respond to any questions.
  • Post some night-specific details or instructions and let killmak or Mechazawa005 know that's what you want copy and pasted to the Specific Notes section of the OP.
  • Send or accept friend invitations on XBL to the people who have indicated they may play
  • The Weekend or Monday before the event, send a form letter invitation PM  to everyone on Goozex who has that week's game in their "Now Playing" list using the "Invite to Play" feature.  Also do the same for people in this thread who have listed they have the game but haven't responded, and also the people who participated the last time the game was played.  A sample form invitation is included at the bottom of this post which you can copy and paste.

The Wednesday night before or Thursday of the 360 night

  • The night prior or morning of, send form reminder PMs to all the people who have responded yes or maybe. A sample form reminder is included at the bottom of this post which you can copy and paste.  If you're not a morning person, do it the prior night.
  • Get on XBL earlier than the scheduled start time, also make sure you have the latest updates/patches ahead of time.  You don't want to be late for your own party [pun originally not intended]. 5-15 minutes before the scheduled start time, create a party and invite everyone into the party.
  • Help people having a tough time connecting to the game or whatever.

After the 360 night

  • PM Mechazawa005 with a list of the people who attended and participated that night, and indicate which ones played for at least an hour.

That's it.  I know it seems like some work and that the form invitations on the Monday to Playing Now people and the form reminders on Thursday morning seems annoying to do, but the Monday invites are helpful for promoting turnout and the morning reminders are good because in past weeks we've found a lot of people forget otherwise.

So it can be a little bit of work, but it's all part of pitching in to help make these nights happen.

Sorry if I sound like I'm coming off like gestapo.. but yeah I guess kind of I am (but really, you should blame mhatter106, because he originally wrote this).

Okay here are the form sample invitations and reminders:

Uno, Worms or Worms 2 are games I have.  Given enough notice I can grab some others.  I'll definitely be game for this after the playoffs are done (which was a long time ago for Leafs fan :P )

killmak:

Well we havent had a 360 gaming night in a long time so I figure it is time to set some up.  I would like to set it up to be at 8pm EST instead of 9pm.  If anyone is interested state what day of the week works best for you and which games you would be interested in playing.

Best for me are Mon, Wed and Thur. And I love Burnout Paradise and have a ton of the arcade games, but I am up for whatever the masses want. I suck at FPSs but you get a fun group together and it can be a great time.

I wont be starting this up until near the end of June as I am going away fishing soon.  I really need to get more MP games, if people can suggest some cheap games that can be gotten quickly those would be some good games to play.

Any weeknight other than PS3 nights on Wednesday would work for me.  I only have a handful of retail multiplayer games (L4D, CoD4, Halo 3, Gears 1/2, Team Fortress 2, Saints Row 2) but i'd be willing to request others to get in on some gaming.

I think we should rule out Wednesday then, I don't think it should be in competition with another event.

Once I move and unpack I'll compile a list of MP games I have.  I know I have some older shooters, but I'm not 100% sure what they are.

Monday through Thursday are good for me.

As for games, I guess as long as they're not shooting games. Maybe a racing game like Burnout or Blur would be fun, or a fighting game like BlazBlue or Super Street Fighter IV. Or, if people really want to, a "wrestling" game like UFC Undisputed 2009 (since 2010 needs a code to play) or Smackdown vs Raw 2010.

Actually, I have a feeling the racing game suggestions would probably be the easiest to regulate. Oh, and some arcade titles like Uno would be awesome.

Edit: Wait, Tuesdays might clash due to playing with a group of Goozers some Left 4 Dead. Also, I have something I watch at that time on Wednesdays, so that won't be good either. Any other day is good though. Possibly Thursdays are best though.

Edit 2: Well, on second thought, I am willing to pick up a shooting game if and only if it is not Halo. But certainly, definitely not Halo.

Pfft, PS3 nights are a joke so we can compete with them Pizza

I vote Thursday.  I think tkszeto is in the midst of resurrecting Wii Tuesday nights.

Sounds good to me.

Hopefully this works out, regardless of the day chosen.  When I started with Goozex the 360 MVP events were huge, but by the time I picked up a 360 they were non-existent.

I blame BFZ.

Alot of the regulars mysteriously vanished.

When I ran the xbla nights, we had a blast.

Being the only organizer was tough, and I just gave up.  If we get more support I will do my best to help organize and host.

Count me in on this. A few retail titles I have, mostly FPS, are Call of Duty 2 - W@W, BF:BC2, GTAIV, Halo 3, Burnout Paradise, RFG, Forza 2, Rock Band 2, Lost Planet, Shadow Run, Dark Sector. XBLA: Doom, MTG + 1st DLC, Worms 2, Castle Crashers, Perfect Dark, Pocket Bike Racer, Uno, just to name a few. Any night would work for me. A list of games should be made up a few weeks before the first night, that way  if someone does not own the title they could have the chance to request it, if the want.
