So I got to load this bad boy up last night and was relieved that I didn't have to spend 20-30 minutes doing an install or something. I only got to play it for like an hour, hour and a half because I play and my wife wants to watch. After a while my wife told me she was tired and wanted to go to bed. insert sad panda photo here but from what I played, I enjoyed and I anticipate more gaming tonight.

I am a little disappointed, but not surprised at the lack of detail as to what is going on in the beginning of the game. They don't even bother to familiarize you with the characters upon meeting them. I still have no clue how to say Sazh's name because no one has said it yet.

The battle system, which I was really leery about when I read about it, actually flows at a great pace. I also like how able the AI controlled party members seem to be. So far so good.

I also find it funny that people have already posted a review of the game here on Goozex...

I could be way off here, but I think that's done to add confusion to the chaos.  Personally, I think it's a great start to the game and I can't wait to play more.

Exactly my thoughts too.  Disappointed that you only control one person, but it is very much still turnbased and the ATB adds some excitement to the battles.

You're probably right about that, I just don't like being told all these names for things that I don't have any knowledge of. Like the fal'Cie and all that. They keep talking about it, but I don't know what the hell they're talking about!

I agree. Square has a habit lately of making anything Final Fantasy be "we now join the show already in progress."

Good to hear others are enjoying it as much as I am, I'm actually finding the opening and fighting style to be rather like FFX which is a good thing in my book. At first I was a little put off by all the name dropping until I found out that in the datalogue portion of the menu they end up giving you all the background information and more detailed explanation of fal'Cie and events leading up to the opening of the story etc. It makes for more reading at the beginning than I would probably like but it has certainly made things more intelligible and now I feel like I'm pretty much up to speed.

So far the game is proving to be quite good and worth the time, despite what many of the reviews I read were saying, I guess we'll see as I keep going along.

The majority of FF titles exist in their own universe. I believe XIII follows this trend after XII existed in a previously used one. Chocobos are at least slightly different in each iteration of the series.
