I posted this in another thread but I thought it deserved its own thread to get a bit of attention. It seems like Goozex has removed free movie trades and I just wanted to know why this is I am aware that at first it was planned to only go on until the 31st of January. But, it seems like it was extended another month because there was a banner saying the promo was on until the 28th of February. So because of this I decided to pick up a bunch of DVD's since I wouldn't have to use tokens. I was matched with four instantly, and two timed out. The first two were free, but now since I had to be matched again two of my tokens were taken away. Well I feel that is unfair since the site advertised free trading until the end of the month. I am aware all sites are allowed to change their own promotions, and deals but why bother extending something when you decide to end it a week in? Seems like more of a bait and switch tactic than anything. I was prepared to trade for a bunch of DVD's but now may hold back on a few because of this. Hope something can be done regarding this and the promo reinstated until the end of the month.

I just noticed this too.  If they take away any more of my tokens for movies I already had traded I'm going to be pissed!

they already cleared this up in the other thread.  goozex made a mistake and the no tokens for movies was supposed to end and the end of january as originally stated.

I think someone needs to look up the meaning of the phrase "bait and switch".

Yes, and that person is you obviously. Pretty sure when you have a big banner on a page saying "Free Movie Trades Until February 28th" then remove the promo 3 weeks before that, only to remove tokens when the buyer thought the trades would be free. That right there is what "bait and switch" means by definition. Here is the definition of "bait & switch" according to Wikiipedia "In retail sales, a bait and switchis a form of fraud in which the party putting forth the fraud lures in customers by advertising a product or service at an unprofitably low price, then reveals to potential customers that the advertised good is not available but that a substitute is. This use of this term has extended to similar situations outside of the marketing sense." Sounds pretty familiar to me. Thje product may be the same but they baited us with the free trade promo only to remove it without letting anyone know why, or that it was just a mistake on their part. Sure they owned up to it, but will that get the tokens back we had to use when we thought the promo still existed. I know many of you feel Goozex can do no wrong, but they did here.

So you guys get free trades for one week past when the original deadline was, and then call for the heads of goozex when they admit it was a mistake on their end?  If there was an ad come out for best buy, or gamestop with a mistake like that in it, they would not honor it.  I know this for a fact cause I've tried it myself just to see what I could get out of it.   But I didn't blow a gasket like some people here are over this.  Especially a person that said they only used two trade tokens cause of this.  Seriously?  Just enjoy the extra week you did get.

They weren't "luring" people in with false sales. The promo was set to end at the end of January, then just recently there was a mistake banner that was on the site that was quickly removed. It's not like they kept up the banner for weeks.

Yeah but this isn't some price error from Best Buy, or Wal-Mart. This was a promo that was running for over a month, and had a huge banner saying it was extended until the end of this month. I am sure many trades were made because they thought the free trade promo was extended. I am sure there are many more users that are making trades thinking they will not have to use tokens for them. Goozex didn't give any notice, or a correction, or post anything that the promo was actually intended to end on the 31st and they just "forgot" to end it. I added a bunch of 100-250 point movies on the weekeknd thinking they would all be free trades. Glad I checked that night or I would of had countless more tokens removed, because of their "error". I just love the whole Goozen can do no wrong attitude everyone has. I can't stop my trades because of their "mistake" can I? At worst they should of replaced that banner saying the promo had ended not left thousands of traders in the dark. It doesn't cost you anything at Best Buy because of a price error, but it did for me and many others onb this ocassion.

If someone gets upset over this and seems to think that people here feel that goozex does "no wrong", then maybe they should finish up their points  and leave the site.  Since this obviously is a deal breaker.

They took the banner off quickly? You must be joking right? In days like these in no way is a full week "quick". A full day of the banner being there could be considered "quick" a full week is an eternity in the year 2010.

So Goozex makes a simple error, which in the end made them possibly thousands of dollars, and many users lost tokens. But, of course I am wrong for being a bit upset about it? Huh. I could care less about the money, but more should of been said than one post on a forum most do not even visit. They wouldn't of even mentioned anything if I didn't bring up the matter. I guess I am wrong though.

Ok, seriously.  You make it sound like goozex never charged money for trading up till right now, and it somehow changed the whole playing field.  You obviously don't want to trade movies here if you cost you 1 dollar per movie to do it.   Like I said, if it's such a deal breaker for you, this doesn't seem to be a site for you.

Wow, why is everyone freaking out over trade tokens.  The promotion went on for about 2 months, and now its over.  Trade tokens are $1, or .50 if you bought the 100 for $50 gift card.  You can get so many great deals on this site, and save so much money, yet people still keep complaining about the smallest of things.

I too thought the promotion was going on until February 28th because I saw the banner as well.  And I got a few trades in with out tokens before the mistake was fixed.  And when I had a movie request matched and noticed a token missing I didn't freak out.  How about everyone relaxes and doesn't freak out over tokens!

Not to whine too much, but since the promotion ended I only have movies worth 250 points or less in my wanted list... the promotion was great, too bad it ended...
