Yeah, I also love this movie, and when I read about how it was filmed, I was pretty saddened. I don't think it would stop me from watching it again, though..

This movie is on my list of "never to be traded" DVD's.
Best part of the movie is when they threw the cat off the cliff. The cat in the movie jumped... but you can tell it was tossed off.

It's been a long time since I've seen this film, but the little bit I do know was that it was filmed by a zoologist and it took like 4 years to make so I'm not sure how true the animal cruelty rumors are.
How was it filmed? You mean that there that the cat wasn't a stunt cat?
Hopefully!
While there were no animal rights organizations on hand during the filming (that I know of), and several groups claimed that animals were injured (and killed) purposefully, follow up investigations didn't find any actual evidence that it was so.
And honestly, who could actually kill or purposely injure this:
Or this:
Only someone with doodoo in their soul, that's who!

This looks like my pup - Wags. By pup, I mean a 4 year old pug.
I remember we borrowed this from the library and the kids *loved* it ... so we bought it on VHS.

The cat got off easy, at least when you think of the cats from Men Behind the Sun.
