Has your PS3 ever frozen randomly? Sony wants to know about it. Thanks to firmware 3.10, Sony now allows users to send an error report after an improper shutdown. Freezing is an annoying issue and there is no way for everyone to be able to report such errors in an easy way. While it’s unknown what exactly is being sent to Sony, expect information about your software and hardware to be sent. According to a disclaimer before sending in the report, this includes PSN account information, the content saved on your PS3, and your email address. This information will be sent if it was being used during the time of the problem.

After scratching our noggin for a few minutes, trying to come up with the best way to put our PS3 into danger, we figured a swift and hard power-down via the back toggle switch on the console would be the best bet to trigger this supposed new error report system. Lo and behold, we received the message you see above. So that's new, right? After winning that battle in the war of trying to break our PS3, we then decided to pick up our console and shake it like some kind of crazed British nanny, but that did not get us the results we were looking for. As such, we contacted Sony and a spokesperson told us that, yes, firmware 3.10 does add a feature to the console where users can report issues following console freezes and the like. So, now you know!
Very cool.
Nice addition.
Not to derail this too much, but wasn't 3.10 supposed to add Facebook something or other? I haven't seen much addition of anything.

It added the ability for you to upload pics and your in game ps3 stats to feed into your facebook acct. Theres no facebook "application" that was added. You still have to access it like before through the ps3 web browser. If you go into acct settings on the ps3 there's a setting to turn on what you want fed into your facebook app and to enter your acct info.

From what I hear, Facebook integration sucks. Whenever you get a new trophy, it reproduces your entire trophy list or something ridiculous.
On topic, does this remind anyone of the "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. [Report to Microsoft]" dialog that pops up when something crashes in Windows?

Yeah, where the options are "Send" or "Don't send"? But I never feel like anything happens when you press "Send", and it just takes longer so I always hit "Don't"

Here's some insider IT infoz. It's a secret Microsoft drinking game.
Every time someone hits 'Send' to send their new found error report to MS, a tech support fellow takes a drink. There have been about 300 alcohol related deaths this quarter alone. Morale is up though.
