I have an issue I couldn't find an exact match for in the forums, so I hope I am not asking a question that has already been answered. I received Red Faction: Guerrilla on 10/23/2009. I left positive feedback on that date per the condition and shipping time of the game. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to try installing it until Saturday, and when I tried to activate the game, it stated that it was already activated under a different email address. I have sent a message to the other trader, but I wanted to know if I have any recourse if they do not get back to me. Am I out the trader points and credit?

PC games should ALWAYS be installed and tested to ensure proper activation. Honestly, the best you can do is email feedback@goozex.com and hope they work with you. But the fact you left a positive already may leave you hanging dry.

Self-follow up ... as I had forgotten the response ...

The G-team decided to leave this as tradeable, with the following update to the Tarde Info:

Trading instructions:
In order for your item to be tradeable through Goozex it must be unrestricted and not in violation of the title's EULA! If the access/registration code(s) are tied to a previous user's email account, then the item is NOT TRADEABLE, and negative feedback is appropriate for unplayable. It is the seller's responsibility to not offer a locked, pre-registered item.

So you should contact feedback@goozex.com and get a dispute going.

Hopefully you and the seller will be able to work something out, but if all else fails send an email to feedback@goozex.com with all the details of the trade.

Someone else had the same issue with this game last week. Maybe this one shouldn't be tradeable?

Agreed, the mods should flag this thread so the G-Team can make this game untradeable

I was afraid that might be the case. There have only been a few games that I have played thus far that require the activation, so I didn't think to install beforehand. Hopefully I can get this resolved with the other trader. Thanks for the response.

Protip:  You should always install before leaving feedback just in case there are any issues with the disc too. 

Hopefully things work out otherwise.

You might also try contacting the game's publisher directly.  They're often willing to help you solve this kind of thing if you do have a legitimate copy, especially since the backlash against DRM has been increasing lately.

I have mentioned these in the admin forums.  Well, 'these' includes RF:G and also Order of War, which is tied to Steam even if bought at retail.

*This* is yet another reason why I hate GfWL and another demonstration of how MS is cluless ... they grab your serial # and make the game untradeable / saleable to kill the used games market,  But what do you get in return?  Auto-upgrading / re-install like Impulse?  No.  Full game reinstall and in-place patching like Steam?  No.  Just another way to take the worst of things and beat customers over the head with them.  Yay, MS.  Yay, GfWL ... STILL the worst PC game utility around!

The other person that had this problem contacted THQ and was told they don't support second-hand/used games.

If the single player portion of a game works fine is the game still tradable? Some people (like myself) are only interested in the single player portions of some games. Where do we draw the line between activated multiplayer, and DLC if both are 1 time use?

DLC enhances gameplay, but is not required to play it (usually). Multiplayer is actual gameplay and is to many the only reason for a game.

Red Faction requires activation for the SP as well as online play. I am a SP campaign only type of player, so that is the only reason I posted the thread. Luckily, the trader got back to me and we are going to see what we can do.
