i'm talking about the stupid rapper bs that has ruined the name drake.  my name happens to be drake and now i feel much shame for having it.  how is it that rap thrives even though it is terrible?  no one in rap/hiphop(same thing) has any talent whatsoever and they "sing" about the stupidest shit. so i guess this thread is about hatred of the genre. i mean why cant something that requires effort and talent be popular again?

All rap is just talking with a beat in the background. Anybody could do it.

Most of that comment can apply to popular music in also any genre.

Hip-hop has some quality artists that go outside of convention if you look hard enough.  Since this is a gaming website, this is the most appropriate example I can think of.

I see your point. A good example of an awful rock artist: 3 Doors Down.

Metal is effort and hip-hop is simple turn-table, and this guy does both for a living.

Actually, I like all genres of music. The only type of music I really cant stand is Country.

I have never understood the reasoning behind the theory of:

I dislike x so everyone else must dislike x or they are STUPID PEOPLE grrrrrr!!

The world would be a boring place if everyone was exactly the same

Words cannot describe how awesome that is....lol.

But I don't like country, most hip hop/rap, some metal, and songs where they scream/screech incoherently. I like pretty much everything else. :)

A: I have no idea what drake has to do with rap... B: Yes, almost all modern rap is completely worthless. Oddly though, and I have no idea why, I actually like T-Pain. I'm kind of ashamed to admit that, and this is coming from someone who is STILL proudly a Spice Girls fan. C: Condemning the genre as a whole is just ignorant. There has been MUCH great rap in the past: Ice-T, Ice Cube, Public Enemy, NWA, etc. I guess the modern listening public is just too stupid to buy anything that's not about drinking and strippers or whatever the hell that crap is about now. Rap, like Punk, was at it's greatest as social commentary, not dumbed down for every sub-100 IQ moron. But, yeah, Souja Boy, Kayne, 50 cent, Lil Wayne etc etc seriously need to fed to some bears or something. As an aside, I hate, with boundless passion, the term hip hop. If it is applied to the worhless crap, fine, but rap is rap. Period.

I have a soft spot for good Eminem and a couple of other decent rappers. A good freestyle can be awesome.

Most stuff you hear on the radio is pretty terrible, but if you think you can stand up and make a rhyme and flow like this on the spot, then go ahead and get yourself rich...

(I guess the forum's media insert option doesn't work with Youtube's deeplinking into a video (the #t=2m57s part)?)

Just as you can't understand the feeling of hearing a solid flow and rhythm of a good rap passage, I won't understand the passion for screaming death metal blasting away in your ears.

Also, probably one of the awesomest raps ever:
