So given Toys 'R' Us' current special, Buy 2 Get 1 Free, lots of people are considering buying a $60 game they don't really want (along with Uncharted 2 and a free game they do want), and then using the 45 day return policy to exchange that game for Modern Warfare 2 when it releases next month.

As far as I know, it's not against any rules or anything, but what's your opinion?

Are you going to buy three games during the Toys'R'Us' B2G1 special this week, and then exchange one later to get Modern Warfare 2?

  • MW2 + U2 + Free game? Hell yeah! (38.9%)
  • No thanks, but if I were going to buy them, I'd consider it! (27.8%)
  • This is probably illegal somehow or against my personal ethics... (33.3%)

I'll probably buy something, but in all likelihood it's going to be something I don't want that I'm only going to flip on Goozex, so I clearly wouldn't do this little "trick" you're thinking of.

I'll be dropping by soon to get some PSN cards, Uncharted 2, Beatles Rock Band and Batman. And If I decide I want to go through the hassle, I'll get Ratchet and Clank, Brutal Legend and MW2, even though I don't want the last one so much.

The trick may not work any more (or at least not as regularly).

Did a little reading up on CAG a few days ago and it seems any returns/exchanges on the B2G1 need to include all 3 original games returned sealed for it to work.  Be aware of this if you give it a try - it's now uber-YMMV.

Yeah, some CAGers have been saying that they were told to do this, in cases where the store was out of copies of Uncharted 2.

Just in case, I picked up a game I wouldn't mind playing, and could probably trade it out fairly easily.

In addition, TRU has started a new policy where in the case of a B2G1, employees can only print gift reciepts for the games if all 3 games in the deal are listed on the reciept.

Ninja Edit:

I can also confirm Mechazawa005's statement.  Last week, I tried to exchange games from a B2G1 free deal and had to return all 3.  Good thing I hadn't opened any of them.
