So I logged in at 11:57am to get in line for Uncharted 2 and although I was expected a boatload of people to be on as well... freaking website goes at a crawl pace at midnight. It took over 25mins to load a single page!!!

By then I was at rank 210. This is uncool! I was about to buy extra points this evening but gladly I didn't. Is this how it happens every time?

Yes for new releases this will occur

It's pretty typical for nights with big releases such as Uncharted 2. Otherwise no, it's not like this for every new release day.

How do people get in first 50? Even if the line moves fast... wouldn't the servers get slowed down for everyone?

Feel free to start a petition for a new release lottery. Devil

I dont like the idea of a lottery but they could at least put different release times (ex 12:15 for Brutal Legend) for different games to slow the lag on the nights where there are numerous games that everyone is going to shoot for. Brutal Legend, Magna Carta 2 and Uncharted 2 all hitting at the same time is a big rush. If they put time releases on those games it might slow down the lag considerably and even give the chance to get a good spot for more than 1 game on certain nights where its basically impossible like last night.. They wouldnt even need to do this on most release nights - just the ones like last night night where they release a few major games.

it has nothing to do with how fast your speed is. Your best  bet is have Goozex open well before you are going to request. I make sure Goozex page is loaded prior to going to bed, so I don't have to fight the hundreds of others doing the same.

But the lag gets terrible for just one big release. So while spreading out the release times might make the load time "better" for each game, you'd really just have a longer period of terrible lag.

yeah I guess youre right it would make a bunch of  lags instead of one huge massive cluster  lag which would probably amount to the same thing plus easties like me would have to stay up even later

I'd rather the site slow down be made more available to everyone.  Or less available to everyone.

I woke up at 11:55PM  (new games are added at midnight for me), woke my computer up, turned on IE and went to my watch list.  I got 50 for Uncharted 2 and 20 for Brutal Legend.  I know I got lucky.  I have MW2 pre-ordered so I don't have to deal with slow servers that night *woot*.

Given that it's already a crap-shoot to get a good shot in line, a lottery for new releases makes the most sense in terms of reducing server load.

Nitro,

I had the game in my Watch List and had the page opened. But clicking "Add to requests" wouldn't do anything without refreshing the webpage. Even the main page for the game doesn't get the "Add to requests" option until its past midnight... in either case, we will have to fight off on lagging servers with other users.
