Funny that I'm writing about this; I've never really cared for football (though I did enjoy playing it for a short while), and yet I find myself compelled to watch tonight's game, if solely for the drama.  That, and having a glossy 55" LCD HDTV makes me want to watch HD sports just a little bit more...

So, who do you want to see come out on top of this one?  The Vikings, with Mr Farve, the traitor to the Packers, or the Packers themselves, sticking one to their rivals, and to Farve himself?

I read an amusing stat this morning though.  Brett Farve has beaten every team in the NFL throughout his career....except for the Packers.  I wonder if he'll finish up the record tonight.

Favre has gone from being a great QB to a pariah and a laughingstock who is pissing on his own legacy through his actions.

I will back Farve in this one. Do i agree with everything Farve did,no i don't. But he should have all the time he needed to make his mind up. Leaving the game is hard. How do you run a man like Farve out of town. After everything he did for you team. I hope Farve throws for 5td's tonight.

I personally don't have a football team, though I wouldn't mind backing one.  I imagine I'll have to back a local one if I want to see the games on TV without a sports package (Kind of like how this area has a Red Sox and a Yankees channel).

On tonight's game though, I have no idea really.  From what I've heard and read of Farve, he's being a bit silly leaving and coming back so much, but it sounds like he can still pull it together after so many years, so it should be a decent game tonight.

EDIT:  I also learned on NPR this morning that the Packers are 'community owned'.  That's pretty cool that the area/state of WI owns the team rather than a sole individual or group.

Does Canada have a football team, kind of like they have a few stray teams in the American MLB and the NHL leagues?

QFT. Plus, I've lived in Wisconsin for the last eleven years and have grown fond of the Green n' Gold.

No NFL teams, only the CFL.  Toronto is trying to get the Bills, but for $100+ per ticket I say let them stay in Buffalo.  I went to a game in Buffalo when I lived in Sudbury, ON and I had a great seat for $45.

IMO the Rogers Centre is a horrible place for football.  I think anyone who's been to an NFL game in an actual NFL stadium would agree.

I played football, but I wanted to be a Fullback, my 40 time was 4.9 so that was not good enough.  They played me at Nose Tackle and loved me there.  The problem was I hated playing NT, it's the least glamorous position on D and as a young kid I didn't understand what the NT true role was.  I kept getting sacks taken away by chop blocks and was constantly double teamed.  My LBers loved me, but I just never felt satisfied playing NT and not racking up TD catches :)

So I switched to Wrestling, Lax and Water polo.  As you can imagine a NT/FB build is not ideal for Water Polo, but it was a fun way to keep in shape.   Wrestling I was pretty good at but if you thought football practice was boring, hoooo man wrestling "practice" was brutal, after the final tourney I was so glad it was over.

Lax was just flat out fun, but our team was new and our offense sucked, this one FW was horrible but the coaches liked him for some reason, idiot used to shoot side arm and get blocked by the goalie every time.  Coach even told him one game, "Cammy, SHOOT OVER HAND!!" he nodded "ok coach"  Overtime, game tied, he shoots side arm again, goalie blocks it.  I couldn't even look at the kid after that.  He was a 3.9 student at a college prep school.  What part of DONT SHOOT SIDEARM didn't he understand?  He had 2 goals all season long... as a FORWARD?  unacceptable.

Anyhooot as a NFL fan, I hate Farve.  He gets too many ESPN ball cupping stories too much face time on TV, too much attention period.

As a NE patriots fan I hate farve for the 96 super bowl.  As an AFC fan never been a fan of any NFC team outside of Joe's 49ers.

But after watching him on the Jets last year, and now on his former team's biggest rival.. I'm like "What a selfish douche!"  he joins a DOME team (smart) w/ a top RB in (SMART) and now they are doing great and he has only 1 INT???

So annoying, why didn't he just not "retire" 3 times?  Cheesey way to force a trade.

I think I'm leaning toward the Packers just to see this shifty guy shut down, but I'm still not sure.

lol, as for football days, I played on the line in highschool.  Not amusing in and of itself, but I was the tall, very skinny type, surrounded by huge guys from both teams...lol.  I landed there due to a simple misunderstanding during practice (they thought I was refusing to run plays as a receiver when I just didn't want to plow over a coach that accidently sauntered into play, oblivious)...

Anyways, I ended up shining in that position.  Oh, I got my share of painful knockdowns, to be sure, but I could hold my own as well.  What worked best for me, being tall and spry, was actually leaping over the line on defense and going for the sack.  I wasn't as good on offense as it was 'just open a hole' and didn't hold my interest or play to my abilities as well as 'just sack that guy' on defense.

Good times.

i'd like to see the pack win, but they ain't.  vikes D is too much for the pack, a. peterson is too much for the pack and favre just makes it all too bad for the pack.

i'll be glad when favre actually leaves the nfl for good, he's made it his own little soap opera for several years now, i retire, no i don't, i retire, no i don't , i retire, no i don't, i'm retarded, yes i am...

Favre is a punk. A great at what he does, reliable and admittedly fun to watch QB; but a punk none the less.

I've been a Vikings fan since I was in diapers, and I went to my first game last December. I'll support them forever, despite their sloppy reputation and all of the crappy decisions Childress has made in drafting (and practically everything else).

I hate to admit that signing Favre to the team was a good decision, but we haven't had a good --or even, for that matter, consistent-- QB on the team for some time now, and Favre is arguably the best fit for the position ATM.

To win/lose against Green Bay tonight is going to be bittersweet either way; adding fuel to someone's fire regardless of the outcome.

That being said, I'm pretty ticked that I have night class tonight.  =P

We'll see. QB with NFL record for interceptions thrown vs. NFL team with the 2nd most interceptions caught this season = potential for a lot of turnovers.
