So for the past year or so I have been living without cable TV (one giant middle finger for you Comcast)... I survive via a mix of PlayOn on my PS3 (very awesome), Netflix (awesome) and an HD antenna (very, very awesome)... basically, the wife and I have watched most of the TV series that we have been told about, or have seen somethig about that piqued our interest, but I am sure there are shows out there that have been missed... anyone have any suggestions for shows that would be good to catch?
Some shows that we have watched so far, along with my personal ratings... for the purpose of this discussion, all shows are rated 1-10, 10 being Dexter, 1 being America's Next Top Model... feel free to disagree with what a 1 or a 10 warrants...
Dexter (seasons 1-3) : 10 - awesome show, created my man-crush on Michael C Hall... I don't know if the amount of enjoyment I get out of this show should scare me or not...The Wire (seasons 1-5) : 9.5 - fantastic crime show, and has a nice story arc per season that also turns into a 5 year series theme kind ofWeeds (seasons 1-4) : 7.5 - I enjoy herb as much as the next guy, and Mary-Louise Parker is some nice eye candy... enjoyable show, but a little predictable and unbelieveable sometimes...Entourage (seasons 1-5) : 8 - good, but the writer's strike clearly damaged the show and there haven't really been new ideas since season 3 or so... Lost (seasons 1-5) : 8.5 - great mind-f**k of a show, just seems like they are getting to the point of being confusing for the sake of being confusing, and it is clear that a few characters are never going to be more than two dimensional...Six Feet Under (seasons 1-5) : 9 - great show, great characters, just dragged on a bit at times more than my tasteCarnivale (about 6 episodes in) : 7 - great production values, just hasn't sucked me in all the way or shown anything amazing to make it a great show...Rome (episodes 1-2) : 4- good production values, but nothing that captured our interest in the first two episodes... I have a feeling that it gets better for some reason... Always Sunny in Philadelphia (seasons 1-4) 12 : it breaks my brain with how hilarious this show is...
I might think of more later, but its getting late, and I need my beauty rest if I am ever going to compete in Miss Teen Washington...
Fringe is fantastic!
Also watch Doctor Who (the newer relaunch, not the older ones).

The Simpsons, Adam 12, Emergency! or Ghost Hunters
Lost isn't confusing for the sake of being confusing. I love shows that challenge you and they seem to have gotten their crap together ever since they figured out when the show would end.
As for Rome, that was an awesome show killed way too soon. Watching the second season it seems obvious that the production team realized that the 2nd season was their last season. It seems like they cut off at least a season and a half's worth of storyline for the sake of finishing it up the way they wanted to.
Also, Deadwood was probably the most awesome show ever put on TV. That is probably the best example of a show killed waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early. Gosh darn HBO.
Mad Men
That is all...
Fringe,House,CSi,Numbers,Big Bang Theroy,Bones.
Sons of Anarchy is amazing. Nip/Tuck, The Office, Its Always Sunny in Philly, Rescue Me, and I am a new fan of Community. That show was HILARIOUS!!

I'm pretty sure all three seasons of Arrested Development are on Hulu. That was an amazing show.

No, both those titles belong to Firefly. One season of pure awesome Space Western.
At least they got to close it out with a movie, though...
Firefly - A mix of futuristic space-action with an old-time western feeling.
Reaper - A guy's parents sold his soul to the Devil and he has to capture escaped souls for the Devil to earn his freedom.
Warehouse 13 - A small team has to retrieve various mythical/magical artifacts and return them to Warehouse 13. Really fun show, a bit like The Librarian, if you've seen that.
Monk - A detective with every phobia you can imagine tries to solve the murder of his wife.
Psyche - A man with a photographic memory pretends to be psychic to help the police solve crimes.
Eureka - An ordinary sheriff lives in the unordinary town of Eureka; a town whose entire population are geniuses.
Reno 911 - In a similar style to COPS, follow the incompetent police force of Reno, Nevada.
How do you watch sports without cable? Or is that not really an issue for you?

Hasn't that been canceled? I was enjoying that show until it just disappeared.
I don't watch too many TV shows lately it seems. I've recently gotten into House; a medical drama with a hilariously self centered main character. 24, real time action drama (7 or 8 seasons to catch up on for that one if you start now). Supernatural, story based around 2 brothers hunting all the stuff people thought was fairy tales, werewolves, vampires, many abstract religious beasts, etc., many heaven and hell struggles too. I watch The Closer with my wife, a detective drama.
I think that's it. Those are all still active and running at different times throughout the year, so I generally just have a show or two to watch at a given time.
