This was a game I probably wouldn't have touched had it not been for the sudden surge in trophy interest.  This game does quite a few things right.  I personally like how they did the inventory system (you just look down and open your jacket), the fire system is pretty neat, and I liked the MacGyver-like inventory combination system where you make little additions to your inventory to address the situation (could have been a bit more indepth though).

Downside is that it felt a bit clunky when I first picked it up, a feeling that fades fast but never totally dies off.  Also, while realistic, the inventory system felt a little cramped; it filled easily and often never had enough.

The game is pretty easy going, especially for casual gamers.  It offers a lax health system; your character can get beaten for quite some time without death, and there's often little to no penalty for death.  The game saves relatively often, generally after every small hurdle.  Not only that, but if you find yourself stuck on a given section of the game, you can freely skip it, just like fast forwarding a film.  The game treats itself much like a TV Series, starting with 'Previously on...' summaries after you load your game file.

Lastly, like I said, this was a trophy oriented purchase, and I wasn't disappointed.  I've only had the game for about 2 weeks and I just got my platinum in it.  It was overall easy, though there were a few times in the game I was yelling at the TV due to ridiculousness (ceiling is caving in?  Lets wait till its a 1/3 of the way down before we allow the player to move...), and one trophy in particular, the 'Handyman' one (do all combos in your inventory), was a pain.  I just found out that reloading your gun with O doesn't count towards the combination of ammo and gun; you have to do it manually.  Other than that, smooth sailing overall.

The game isn't a blockbuster 5 by any means, and without Goozex I might not have tried it at all, but I'm glad I gave it a whirl, and will be looking for other quick fixes here shortly that I may have otherwise overlooked.  Has anyone else here played this title?  Any word on a sequel?  The ending was a bit wide open (both of them).

Sales were lackluster across all  versions. Despite the PS3 version being the supperior version due to extended development time, the negative buzz created by the inferior versions on the other consoles hurt the sales of this version.

I picked this up during a Buy 2 get 1 Free sale at Gamestop and it was far worse than I expected it to be. I'm a pretty big fan of the Survival Horror genre, so I'm no stranger to clunky/half-broken controls, but the controls in this game were just horrible. One confusing and poor game design choice is that aiming the gun goes into first person view, not only does it feel extremely awkward, it makes something as simple as shooting an enemy become complicated. Using a light source to get through the black ooze was also frustrating, sometimes no matter how lit up the area can be, I still ended up getting swallowed by the ooze and would be thrown back to the checkpoint.

I did like being able to combine items, the results were satisfying when things went right.. I also liked the way you had to tend to your wounds, it added a sense of realism to that's not seen in other games. Other than that, I really don't have anything else positive to say about the game, which is a shame because I really wanted to like it. If this was the improved version, I could only imagine how broken the original version was.

That being said, I can't get myself to trade this game in, I guess a part of me wants to go back and give the game another shot.

Got this game about a week or so ago and so far I am enjoying it somewhat.

I too enjoy how you look down at your jacket for your inventory, and the "MacGuyver" item combining is kind of awesome... combining double sided tape, a glow stick, and a can of mosquito spray to make a glowing sticky bomb is quite fun and honestly something I have never done in a game before... I am only through chapter three or so, and it feels like while the inventory is limited, I never feel like I am low on supplies like a RE game... there are bottles aplenty it seems so far, and ammo / bandages to boot...

But, as was noted, the controls are quite terrible sometimes... and there have been parts where I had no idea what I was doing wrong, I would just fail a few times before figuring out where I needed to go... also, I have jumped to my death at least 4 times already becuase of the poor controls... if this game combined the controls of Uncharted, it would go along ways towards helping it...

I also dig the whole TV Series feel... nice and cinematic and fairly engaging... and liberal F-Bombs, though relatively appropriately IMO... not swearing for the sake of swearing, but characters swearing becuase crazy s**t is going down...

Well I went back gave the game another shot after my last post and it wasn't as horrible as I expected, but still not anything to write home about. The game did tolerable once it went open world, but there were still too many damn problems for it to be considered enjoyable. It's a damn shame really, because the game had a lot of potential and obviously needed more development time to get all the big kinks out.

Although I enjoyed the game somewhat, I did get pretty tired of it and its crappy controls.  And the subway level with the monster infuriated me to no end.  As a result, I traded it out before beating it.
