Just asking anybody, are there any shooter games out there that you have just spent alot of time on that have great multiplayer? Other that any CoD game, L4D, Halo.

Gears of war is an amazing online game, I'd suggest gears 2 personally. If you're like me and you hate third person shooters you're in luck as this third person shooter has so many FPS elements to it. Zooming in on weapons (FPS view on sniper), Crosshair is a lot like an FPS rather then an TPS, It allows you to shoot and move at the same time, Controls feel spot on unlike many TPS even some of the best like GTA IV didn't have FPS like controls... It may take some time to get used to the game as it feels very scripted, I hated the first gears of war for a few months, it grew on me, now it is one of my favorite franchises.

I'd suggest the Orange Box, not for the singleplayer half life games, but the multiplayer Team Fortress 2. It is THE best multiplayer shooter I have EVER played.  There is 9 different classes in the game, each unique AND fun to play. There is a medic who heals players, It's fun to play this because of the strageity of healing while trying not to get hit by bullets, combat medics are fun because the weapon is mroe powerful then you think, there is the scout who can double jump and move twice the speed of a regular guy, he is fun to play because you can run up to someone with you're speed and kill him with your shotgun and get out of there before anyone else can come, you have the sniper, it's a pretty basic type sniper, but I love sniping so it is fun for me, espicially considering you can kill people with one bullet, where as in a game like battlefield you need two if you don't get a headshot, there is a heavy whp has a huge machine gun, a lot of health, but is very slow, he is fun to play because with a medic you can destroy a whole team defending a base within a few seconds, you have thedemo man who has a demo gun, one gun that shoots stickies which you detonate at will, and a gun that shoots pipe bombs that do a lot of damage, he is fun to play because the pipe bombs do a lot of damage, but are very hard to hit the enemy, so you feel accomplished when you get good and can be amazing with him. You have spy who can turn invisible and can make it look like your another player of the other team, he is fun to play because it can be funny when the other team doesn't realize your a spy and they are like OH C.R.A.P there are more classes but I am tired of typing.

I would also suggest Shadowrun, it is a game like counterstrike, so it has a steep learning curve. It's only 100 points so I'd defiantly get that...

Sorry if the spelling/grammar are terrible in the above posts, it was so long to type I didn't bother going back and fix mistakes like I usually do...

Woot, another chance to pimp Battlefield: Bad Company! The best online multiplayer out there, just be sure to play in Conquest mode as opposed to the default Gold Rush for the true Battlefield experience...

+1 to the TF2 suggestion, the best I could think of if you're only considering the 360 with those other titles out of the running.

One of the best online games I have on PC; I'm sure it's similar on 360.  Get it.

I'd only get the orange box if the 360 is all you have thats able to play games.  No updates for the 360 version would kill TF2 for me.

TF2 is amazing, that's for sure. But the PS3 version is terrible. I haven't tried the 360 version as I don't play on Live, but the PC version is stunning fun.

I will say, though, that while TF2 is awesome, if I had a choice, I'd pick Starseige Tribes over it any day.

Jetpacks + large maps + awesome weapons = good times. Pretty steep learning curve, though. 3-dimensional ariel FPS takes quite a bit of practice to get used to..

But man, nothing feels quite as awesome as chasing the flag carrier at high speed and nailing him with a disc launcher at 200 meters away! The disc launcher is comparable to the Soldier's rocket launcher in TF2: slow but pretty powerful.  So yeah, getting consistent MAs with it in Tribes is everyone's dream, but few ever truly master it.

..Think I'll play Tribes when I get home tonight..the craving is there!

Oh, I did forget about the lack of updates....spoiled I guess...lol.  However, I don't really care for the most recent update (earn items automatically over time, but at least they fixed the sniper and spy unlocks), so I wouldn't mind excluding that.

Still, it was a great game on release; Valve is just doing a stellar job at adding 3ish items per class and not screwing anything up while keeping the flavor of each class intact.  Not an easy task I'm sure.

Didn't they fix that AFK-For-Items issue in the most recent update? Seem to recall reading that somewhere.

I haven't been able to play for about 2 months, so I'm not really sure.

Yea, in the most recent update, they're tearing away any items earned via third party afk methods (the game was supposed to boot you if you idled too long).  That's all their doing since they didn't have a policy on it before.

Now though, they'll take ALL your items away if they catch anyone abusing the system again, and I think they've added measures to stop it.
