Oh, really?
"Movies is something that we are looking to add sometime in July or early August and we hope to see the same reaction as with games for that media." -JONATHAN DUGAN

movies - eh?
This pleases me greatly as long as dvd points can also be used towards game points. I would gladly send out my Dark Knight DVD for points.
One part seemed like it was copied-and-pasted from the previous one. That, or I have a serious case of deja-vu and the matrix is about to blow up.
Yay for movie trading. I've been denying trade offers elsewhere on my full package Advent Children Collector's Edition just in case you guys announce this soon.
Movie trading?
*steeples fingers*
Excellent.

Movies,hope this works out.
The articles were a good read. How much did NinjaJ pay you to let him do the GEN interview?

The addition of movies would be great so long as we can use points to buy games and or movies.
If points from movies can be used to buy games it would be an awful idea.
I've got dozens of old dvds sitting around that I'll never watch again. I'd trade them all here for the 50 points or whatever they'll be worth.
Then, I'd turn around and buy games with those points. I'd be taking games out of the system without putting games into the system. How is that a good idea? Supply and demand is already generally screwed up on a lot of games (new releases...), so why make it worse than it is?
The systems should be separate and have separate points. However, if you're going to do that, I might as well keep my dvds and keep using netflix like I am...
Seriously, letting me use DVD points to get games would be like getting free points to get games.

That's no different than just buying points, an option available now. Not only that, but you'd be providing DVDs into the system, not to mention multiple expenditures of trade tokens (from your buyers).
In addition, you may very well trade that game back into the system down the road as many others do, so the copy really isn't 'gone'.
All is well.

Except DVDs are crazy cheap and goozex points are expensive. People have huge caches of DVDs sitting around their houses; they don't have a bunch of extra $$$ to buy goozex points.
There's another about this here. Of course 50% of people want this to happen because they'd be able to unload a bunch of DVDs for games. Sure, the games aren't 'gone,' but there would be a huge unbalanced swing in games to DVDS. People's points would skyrocket without putting any games into the system...I believe that sounds familiar...
Besides, people have hissy fits enough about manuals and full packages, I can't even imagine how it would go if we started to trade DVDs with inserts and ads and 20th anniversary edition versus collector's edition and what not.

Yeah... I have to agree with Kenny here. Frankly it seems silly to create a separate system for movies, since doing that would remove the flexibility that would make me find the feature desirable. What if Goozex were to add games for additional platforms? Should they be kept separate from other game trading because they are removing games from the system? No, and that self contradictory sentence illustrates why.

Oh I agree on the value argument, but $50 traded in DVDs is the same as $50 in purchased points when it comes to the removal of games from the system; but at least the DVDs are keeping the site moving.
My worry was the exact opposite of yours though, that no one will see incentive to trade DVDs at all, seeing that DVDs on average are quite cheap to own as well as long term investments. I don't see as much incentive to save money with DVD trading as I do game trading.
Your concerns about package conditions for DVDs though is quite valid....I have no idea how that would be handled.
