Should Sony and Microsoft Combine Their Consoles and make  a merger in their gaming department

If this happens for their next consoles people wont have to worry about which console to get for real gaming. Now PlayStation and Xbox Users can join together. People also wont have to worry about console exclusive games which is the biggest reason for choosing a system. It will mean a whole new world for gaming.

Tell me what you think

Is it a Bad or Good idea, And Give GOOD REASONS!!!

Horrible idea. Aside from the fact that the Israelis and Arabs sitting around a camp fire and singing Kumbaya is more likely to happen, it's just bad. Competition is good for any industry. With no competition there is less of a need to try out new things to impress the consumer and new developments become few and far between.

microsoft is too greedy and the xbox is doing too good for them to merge with sony

Hah... no. But I do think in a few generations, one of the two will be replaced by another console, and will end up converting into game development only, ala Sega.

i agree with the previous posts, competition fuels companies to innovate, for example, nintendo wii got motion sensors so microsoft and sony had to hurry and get in on some of that too (as we see through natal and sony's new motion sensor controllers at e3)
i think joining all gamers of xbox and ps3 together and making a very large community of gamers would definitely be..modern. but..each (psn/live) is large enough already isn't it? in my experience, i didn't think a large amount of players meant a better gaming experience, but maybe that's just because i don't make an effort to make friends online when i'm playing.

No Competition??

Even Combined they couldn`t Take down Nintendo.

But it`s probably a good idea, atleast then we can get more than 5 or 6 good games to play on a console that cost us over $400.

You Guys seem to be talking for the companys yourself. Who cares about them. Think of yourselves. Think of things that will affect you as a gamer and not the companys.

Lots of the above posters are speaking as gamers--competition yields better games.  There's a reason Madden is just a roster update every year now--because it has no competition thanks to EA's exclusivity license with the NFL.

I'd much rather have the option to pay for two systems and play good games than have the "option" to pay for one system and play mediocre games.

I see What you mean by competition (finally, didnt get it at first) but if you think about it when Bungie made Halo they didnt think to themselves "We're gonna destroy sony" they thought "We're gonna destroy every game ever made"

So if you think about it there is more cometition between games than there are consoles and it will continue even if they join. There might even be more competition seeing as how Xbox major games will have to go up against PlayStaion major games seeing as how there will be one major audience to compete and vise versa. How would you feel if some your were competing with MGS or Halo for top dog title. You would work alot harder to be the best
