Hey everyone,
We wanted to announce some important new rule changes regarding trade cancellations. Based on feedback and what we've seen come through our customer service we have done the following changes to help make the trading experience better when members agree to cancel a trade:
1. There is now no timeout on when a trade cancellation can be requested. You can even request to cancel a trade in the dispute section if you receive/give negative feedback.
-The only exception to this rule is that a buyer cannot request a cancellation after a seller has "confirmed shipped" the game. This is to protect the seller after they have paid for postage and don't accidentally agree to cancel a trade and then they are out the game and points (this has happened before). In this scenario, the buyer will have to wait until dispute to request a trade cancellation.
2. All trade cancellations require the other side to approve.
-The only exception to this rule is a seller with the following specific limitations
Bottom line is that we don't want members to cancel trades, but we understand that stuff happens and there are numerous scenarios that can happen where it is needed. So we have tried to make the process one where members can resolve a dispute between themselves.
It is always in your best interest to make sure the games listed in your offers/request queue are games you want to trade. Always double check you have the games, they are in playable condition, and are in the condition (full package, disc + manual, disc only) you agreed to ship BEFORE mailing the game.
Happy to hear your feedback here!
Thanks,
GTeam

Couldn't the seller immidiately hit the "confirm as shipped' button so that the buyer won't be able to request cancellation? It's a jerk thing to do but I'm just playing devil's advocate here.

Of course, but if that is the case, then the person should be reported, and if it happens frequently then I'm sure it will be addressed.

i do this pretty much immediately on some trades because as soon as I'm matched, ill print out a paypal label for the package to get it out of the way, so i dont know how goozex would be able to gauge this as far as people being reported goes

This was the only worry I had about these new rules.
However; it won't effect me as I have the 100+ feedback that is needed for my approval of all cancellations. Still, for new users I can see this issue arising once in a blue moon.

Heck, I did that today - accepted a trade and within four hours clicked the 'confirm button'. Oh wait, I actually shipped it ...
As for your stuff, here is an example - I have a game I'm currently waiting for. It was supposed to ship by the 12th, and before that I got a generic 'confirmed shipped' thing. Then I got a 'confirmed shipped' update with a number, but that wasn't recogniized by the USPS for 3 days, at which point it switched to 'information recieved'. Then this morning it finally changed to 'processed and left' ... so it has taken ~9 days from when it was supposed to ship to actually get out of the USPS.
Indeed it'll be hard to tell who abuses that confirmed shipment as I too ship extremely promptly and I don't intend to change that.
I'll have to reread the second bullet a few times to comprehend it though I think...

I guess it's open to some interpretation; for me, i consider a game "shipped" once i have paid postage and the game awaits postal pick up

So do I. If its paid for already its as good as shipped, its not going to get cancelled.

Sure - but that should mean that if you 'accept' Saturday night that the package will be 'Processed & Left Facility' by Tuesday. If you print postage and click 'confirm' on Monday and don't stick in the mailbox until Friday, how is that 'shipped'?
