Would anyone happen to know if this plays on the 360?

I was always curious about the game but never picked it up. Yet, now that I got the movie on DVD I feel compelled to continue collecting. :p

I have brought to light a monstrous abnormality, but I did it for the sake of knowledge. Now for the sake of all life and Nature you must help me thrust it back into the dark again.

It is listed as backwards compatible for the 360.  From personal experience that doesn't always mean it doesn't have some glitches but you should be able to play it from start to finish.

Also, this game was the first Game Club game on the Eat Sleep Game podcast.  They had several different podcasts talking about their progress in the game.

Yeah, it's listed but like you said, that doesn't always mean much. :(

I was hoping someone had actually played it on the 360 but I think I'm going to pick it up anyway. Thanks for the response, though!

It would never get past the first loading screen on my 360. If you get it I hope you have better luck.

It's completely unrelated to the movie, which was a story first FYI.

I know that. :p

In a way they are both related. There've been many films; I'm talking about the silent film that was recently released.

And thanks for the heads up falco, maybe I will skip this one.

Just adding to what Falco said, I had this on my original Xbox and had endless problems.  Glitches, freezes, fatal errors...it was a mess.  Somewhere in there, there was a pretty cool concept.  But the developer really dropped the ball.

Yes, it plays fine on my Xbox 360. I've never really encountered any problems playing it, not anymore than in any other game.

It's a great game, probably the best video game adaptation of Lovecraft's work that is available. Great atmosphere and graphics (for an Xbox game). The story is a combination of several of Lovecraft's short stories, mostly The Shadow Over Innsmouth, and as such is wonderful.

As for movies, The Call of Cthulhu (2005 silent film) and Dagon are both pretty good. I was rather impressed with the former, as it really fit the era and style that Lovecraft lived in.

The first time you start up the game it does a mandatory install that was common to games on the original xbox. As long as you don't play another original xbox game between sessions it should keep it cached to memory. The sad part is that the screen never actually tells you what it's doing and just looks like the game is frozen.

It does play on the 360, but not without issues.  The music from the game does not play at all, and it also freezes from time to time.  I played for about 4hrs and these were the only issues I came accross.  Never finished it though because I read that the final cutscene does not work correctly on the 360 (only audio, no video) but since I gave up I cant confirm this.  I will wait and get it for the PC. If you still have your original Xbox around I'd suggest playing on that instead of the 360.

This game actually caused me to have a nightmare: I dreamed that I was being attacked by fishmen, and when I woke up I was punching myself in the face.

True story.

While the low-budget, black and white (and silent) film and Dagon are both pretty good, for heaven's sake, DON'T watch the most recent "cthulhu" film with Tori Spelling, for the sake of your sanity.  There are some cosmic horrors so profound that the human mind shutters and snaps into irreconcilability after beholding them.

I've always had such a ridiculously hard time with "the chase" in this game, and have, admittedly, never gotten past it.  Game was great up until that point, though.
