Guess this is relevant, since we all use the post office to mail our games.
I didn't think the economy could have any directly adverse effects on Goozex (besides hurting us individually, of course) but it looks like that might happen. According to CNN, the USPS may be forced to "eliminate a day of mail service" to cut costs in the face of current economic conditions. The link to the article is below:

Overall, I don't think this would affect trading on Goozex too much, but it would definitely increase the average time of shipment. Something I didn't know until reading the article was that all of you Canadian users already deal with a five day system, so I guess it must not be too terrible. Thoughts?
I can't believe our economy is really that bad. I don't think a 5 day shipping week would be too bad but still it might hurt a little bit.
Damn, no more getting games on Saturdays.....:(

If they do cut out a day, i dont think it would be saturday it would prob be one day during the week.
If you guys read the article then you would have seen that they would probably be cutting Tuesday out.
Thanks Bush

They've tried to do this before and it's failed. No reason to think it will pass this time. Would be a shame, though.

Speak for yourself. I use messenger pigeons.
I'm glad to read that they probably won't cut Saturday delivery. It looks like in May we will likely see a 2 cent postal increase as well.
This kind of all goes back to your business model. Like it or not, the postal service is a business really. In order for them to continue to function they need to be able to afford all their costs and/or turn a profit. Despite the fact they are a government-run body they still need to turn a buck.
Give them credit for staying alive with all the tools we have for communication these days, although some of that certainly just has to do with people staying set in their ways. I still can't convince my wife that Christmas cards are a dumb waste of green (money and trees). Plus the post office will always be needed for shipping physical goods that will never go digital (one advantage of being part of the government is I imagine they can always undercut the private shipping companies like UPS and FedEx).
So this brings to mind an upcoming feature that we haven't heard about for a while - any news on when we can use Goozex to print out labels and mail our games?

The USPS is a slowly sinking ship, if their monopoly on mailboxes was removed they would be finished.

honestly, USPS needs to reassess it's business model and understand that for packages it cannot compete with UPS or FedEx.
