Would you buy the DSi?

Just wondering if anyone will be wanting to buy the DSi as it comes out in Spring. Tell me your opinions on the Nintendo breakthrough.

If I get a job and have all my stuff done for school, I may finally jump into the handheld scene.

I doubt it. I'm pretty quaint right now with my DS lite that took me a long **s time to get.

If I didn't have a DS then maybe.  However, The DSi doesn't add enough for me to spend $180 for the same system.

My only complaint with my DS Lite is the screens are a bit small (my eyesight is horrid).  Having said that, I can't see myself going out and spending more money on a system I don't have much time to play.  The features they've added compared to the features they've taken away doesn't impress me either.

While I can certainly see the appeal in the teen space, the DSi is definitely a step back in terms of what I use my DS for. Won't be picking it up for now.

Since I no longer have my DS, I'll be purchasing a DSi.  If I still had my DS, though, I'd be holding off until the download scene improved.  Drastically.

So far, the DS Marketplace is unacceptable, and it certainly can't replace the GBA slot on the DS Lite.

Would I? Heck, where is the pre-order button at Amazon?

I get the DSi, one of my kids gets my DS Light, and my wife gets their DS Phat to stick in a drawer and play Cooking Mama twice a year ...

I really don't care about the GBA slot, as I have *never* used the one on my DS Lite (other than for Rumble Pak or DS Browser memory)

I'm going to pass on this for now. There just isn't anything about that DSi that has me clamoring for the upgrade. That and the fact that I only use my current DS Lite (Japanese launch system) to play Picross.

I do like having the GBA slot, but honestly it's been a very long time since I've fired up any GBA games. I did start another play through of Metroid Fusion a few months back, but I haven't touched it since then.

Seeing how my games will not work in it I will not be getting one. Also the loss of the GBA slot is a turn off for me at this point.

What do you mean Duddy07? are there DS games that don't work on the DSi? That's a huge 'no go' for me. Not that I was contemplating picking up a DSi, but if you can't play all your DS games on it then it's not even a question.

I personally think the DSi is more of a downgrade than an upgrade. Taking away the GBA slot is a huge mistake.

I have no idea what he is talking about ...

We contacted Nintendo to get official word on whether there are known compatibility issues.

They told us: "All DS titles are compatible with DSi, with the exception of those that require use of the GBA slot."
