Hi all,

I didn't know how to name this post, so my subject may seem strange.

Basically, I am becoming a bit suspicious of people out there stealing our games while in transit.  I have traded many games and only recently, have I been seeing some of them never arrive at the intended location.

I have a feeling that people out there are starting to know what Goozex is all about (which is a good and bad thing).  I think the reasons why I only recently started seeing some of my games disappear is because people out there know that when they see that green goozex image on the return label that there may be a cool game in that package, etc.

I know people will just say pay for tracking/insurance, etc.  Most of the reason why we joined this community is to save money, so I am hesitant to use that route.

Seeing as I only recently started having these problems, I would like to suggest that Goozex strips the return label image off the address page.  So when we print out the shipping page, we get a generic return address that is a bit more bland (I know it's boring).  So don't even say Goozex on it, just have the appropriate address and some general contact name.

I may just be me not trusting people, but if Goozex wasn't so popular I wouldn't have these problems!!!  thanks for reading,

ant.

Ant,

I'd recommend checking out PayPal's shipping options. It does require a little extra effort, but you can print the postage right from your computer with a generic mailing label (sans goozex guy). That's what I've been doing for the longest time and it's been working out very well. For a game + bubble mailer the cost is around $2.00 for postage + delivery confirmation.

just something to look into so the post man doesn't keep making off with your games :)

If that is indeed what's happening, then you should definetely spring for Delivery Confirmation. It's only $0.75 extra, and if you ship First Class you should never have to pay more than $3 to send out a game. While I understand you want to save money, bear this in mind: $3 to send out a game may add up, but think of all the money you save when you get a game yourself. For me, Goozex has cost me the equivalent of $30 a month, but has gotten me over $100 a month in games.

Also, if you don't want it to say "Goozex" on the package, why not just write Goozex's/your return address on the package? I understand it's convenient to just clip out the label and just slap it on there, but if security is indeed becoming an issue, it'd be much faster to write out the address rather than waiting for Goozex to change the shipping label.

you guys made some great points, I guess this was more of rant on my end..  I have already made some adjustments, basically just putting my own address label over the return address, etc...

thanks for the thoughts, I will also be checking out the paypal suggestion as well.

If you really want to keep using the Goozex label there are a few solutions I can think of that you can do on your own. If you have adblock you can just adblock the 'Goozex' image. Or you can hit alt+print screen in the window and paste it in an image editing program like MS Paint and make use of the eraser tool. Orrrr, uhmmm, after you've printed it I can't see why you couldn't just cut around the Goozex image...

I'm new, but I just wrote in my return address on the package.  Writing it in makes me more comfortable.

Sadly, with the crappy economy there have been more and more incidents of 'package theft'.  There was a news feature here about it just before Christmas showing many security videos of people stealing packages off others' porches ... I don't imagine it is better with the mail.  Someone sees a box with Amazon on it ... gotta be worth something.
