I just bought a Dreamcast from The Exchange. I saw a few really good looking games with online play, does Sega keep dreamcast online servers going or has it been shut down for a while?

I'm pretty sure Phantasy Star Online was the last one, and that's been shut down for a while.  There are private servers though, or at least there were.

I can't wait! The Dreamcast is really under-rated in my opinion!

Dude, the Dreamcast is so old, I wanted to try the online, but I didn't have that back then.

I agree, the DC was and still is a fantastic system, loads of great games for it.

I figured out I just need to run a cable from my PC to the Dreamcast! Then I can my my DC into a host server for online play, the developers were smart.

A bit off-topic, but suggestions for some games for me?

Some of my favorites:

Sonic games

Evolution 1 & 2

Shenmue

Soul Calibur (a must, still the best IMHO)

Record of Lodus War (I think I misspelled that)

Marvel Vs. Capcom 1 & 2

Silver (I like it, but some don't)

There are many others I like, but I can't remember them right now, I haven't had time to play mine in some time.

Oh, I can't believe I forgot:

Powerstone 1 & 2 (the PSP ports have nothing on the originals)

3 more questions

1. Where can I get a cheap memory card

2. Are 3rd parties still making DC games?

3. What is a rom?

Thanks for the patience with me, hopefully someone can answer Stick out tongue

1. Your best bet would be personally owed game stores, or if you wanted to trade for one sign up at Gametz.com I'm sure someone there would let one go cheap.

2. Not for awhile I believe, though that is not to say there won't be another one made, hell not just a year ago I bought a new Genesis game Beggar Price that was 3rd party made.

3. I'm not sure what your asking, what form did you hear that in. When I think of that I think of either a game image file or "read only memory"

I hear people talking about mods and stuff what are those? (sorry, I'm not the most technically advanced/skilled gamer)

The mods you probably are hearing about is the light modding, some people have the lights moded in the system so it will be a differnt color.

There is also switch mods for this so you can play imports on it, though all you need is a DC-X gdrom to do that or a utopia boot disc (which is free to download and burn)

There are also the chip mod, which is completly pointless.
