guys I just got my 40gb ps3 so I am looking for suitable accesories rightnow. Last night I found a toshiba 160GB for 60 dollars and a samsung 320GB for 99 dollars (free shipping+no tax, deal ends today); any opinions on which one i should get? I am leaning toward 160GB rightnow because I am a bit tight on money and 320GB sound too much like an overkill.
What are you going to do...save every demo?

I'd agree with you if Sony didn't make you perform game installs. With this little "feature," I don't see my 40 gig holding up. But yeah, 320 is probably overkill (doesn't mean you shouldn't go for it though ).
I have a 40gb as well and I haven't felt the need to upgrade the HDD too much. 160gb should be fine unless you plan on using your PS3 as a media server or something...
Like Lurk implied, you only really need to save so many demos..

Do what you think it best.
Just some food for thought though. I have the 60Gb and never thought I would fill it. I have 2Gb of Demos, an issue of core and 1 family guy episode the rest are games off the PSN, extra content for disc based games or just patches and have less than 7Gb free.
Just a few examples...
Hot shot golf, GTA4, DMC 4, RSV2 all required installs of at least 2-3 GB each.
If money is really that tight and you don't plan on downloading a lot of videos or PSN games the 160 should be fine. Personally I would go with the 320, rather spend the extra money now than 100 later. With Home and more PSN games (Warhawk) and Wipeout HD coming out the extra space would be nice. Either way it should be a nice upgrade.
I have a 60 gig and can't imagine what would fill in that space.
I had a 360 and 20GB wasnt close enough to accomodate all the demos, videos, and add-ons I got from live. Plus ps3 has those game installs that take up 4GBs per game so I highly doubt 40GB is gonna be enough after I return to college and get broadband again. I will probably get the 160GB and save the 40 bucks for resistance 2 or SOCOM
I have a 160 GB and I don't even know what to do with it. Maybe I'll get Far Cry 2 so it can soak up at least 50.
Click on atleast one....
Don't Mess with the Thoraxe.....
Just remember, girls like bigger. I'd get the 320.
lol sure... actually I took human sexuality last year to satisfy A&S college requirements and the professor taught us its not the size of the boat, its the motion of the waves that matters lol
id go with 700gb if i was u... jk
take the 160, unless u plan on loading it with music and videos,
160gb is good enough, i got 60gb and i still got 30 gigs
psy 252 at vanderbilt university right here in downtown nashville. That class was hilarious and apparently it was even more outrageous back in the day haha; the professor used to bring porns and cucumbers to class and she had to stop after the administration found out LOL
That last test on contraception and STDs really screwed me over [:'(], my grade went from B+ down to B-...sniff...
I have a portable 320gb drive that the PS3 (60gb) will not recognized the whole drive. something about the fat32 file system will only go up so high. i partitioned it into 2 160gb sections and then the PS3 recognized it. but only 1 section. I dont know first hand if the internal drive would do the same thing, but I wouldn't take a chance. I would go with the 160 now that I know. Beside that, I would keep adding addition drive space seperate from the PS3. 'cause with all the movie & TV downloads, you can fill up space really quick. and when you buy a movie, there is no way to transfer it to anything else except the internal drive. believe me, I've tried. the only thing that you can transfer them to is your PSP, and thats it. If somebody has a way of transfering, or backing up, I would sure like to know.
I have no doubt that you could utelize Linux to transfer files from one HDD to another, such as an external HDD connected via USB.
