Yuppers. I think that you and I, LameAssTheMity, may have gotten on it before the official launch.

It's always awesome to hear how this site is growing. I think is the most enjoyable trading experience I've ever had! It makes me feel like I'm able to trust people now!

Just a note on Adventure games - you mention them in terms of Pax and their taking an old-school step back.  Not to be mean, but that just shows how console-centric you two are Big Smile

Adventure games are alive and well for the past >2 years since Indigo Prophesy:

- PC games have plenty of examples such as Sam & Max Season 1, KeepSake, Safecracker, and on and on.

- The DS has a couple of solid titles such as Trace Memory and particularly the awesome Hotel Dusk.

Fair point TXA Wink

A Goozex member at PAX brought up the same point while talking with him about adventure games.

Again, I didn't mean it in any way but fun, as there are volumes to be filled for what I don't know about every console game ever made (as an aside, I had to format a Nintendo Quiz Contest for GamerDad and couldn't answer *one* question on it ... my kids thought that was pretty sad)

But the reason I mention it is that a couple of years ago Adventure games were ones constantly spoken of as 'a genre that used to be glorious but is now dead'.  Now it is resurgent and pretty cool.

txa1265:
particularly the awesome Hotel Dusk.

Just got this game, can't wait until my stupid money troubles clear up (I'm looking at you gasoline) and I can finally go buy that DS!

What exactly is the defining characteristic of an 'adventure' game?  Mystery? Not a RPG/FPS/RTS?

Hmmm ... generally story driven, with puzzles to uncover and some sort of 'mystery' to resolve.  Usually *not* combat driven.  But like anything else, there are many exceptions.
