Hello Guys, Well I'm debating whether to get the ASUS g73JH -x1 or not. I've been researching and reading reviews and so far I am impressed with it. I have never had a gaming laptop but would love to have one and try it out. I'm leaning towards this more than the custom deskopt. I Just want to ask you guys for a final push and whether or not I should get it. ! Thanks In Advance!
I believe cheeznrice and Duddy07 both have this laptop so you might want to PM them.
In general, I am skeptical of gaming laptops because with their added size and lack of battery life you will be probably using it more like a desktop.
They're pretty cool. Like Dev said, though, the battery life is going to hinder its use as a laptop. I looked at a similar Asus, seriously, last fall. Decided against it, because with about an hour of battery life, all those nice features weren't going to be any help if I had to keep it plugged in all the time.
They seem really cool, though. I'm sure you'll be happy with it, if you decide to get one. Just be aware of what you're getting before hand, because it looks like for most people it ends up as more of an all in one gaming desktop than a portable gaming machine.
Cheez has the G73JH-A2. If i plan on sticking with my plan on getting a laptop, I will need around $1,600, I don't have anything close to that amount, and besides being unemployed does not help either.
You should build a pc for that price. Trust me I stuck myself with a gaming laptop for the same price a couple years back and am already regretting the decision. Battery life drains to quickly while playing games therefore making it really useless as a mobile gaming laptop.

That I do and I couldn't be , but I also use it as a portable desktop. My BiL couldn't believe the size of the the power adapter, which is about three times the size of his Asus'. His laptop also gets 9 hours of battery life, which shatters the 1.5 I can get with mine. My only complaint with the laptop I have is the chicklet keyboard and the touchpad. I find my palms hit the touchpad far too often when I'm doing something and I end up closing the program I'm in. I find some keys on the keyboard unresponsive when typing fast, but how much typing do you do when you're gaming with a controller in your hand

I agree, for that price you can build an amazing gaming PC with a huge monitor. Unless you really need the portability of a laptop gaming laptops are a huge waste of money.
I bought the G73JH-RBBX05 in June. I don't use it for gaming, but I do use a lot of RAM-eating productivity programs daily (namely Photoshop and Turbolister simultaneously) and wanted something with a lot of RAM.
I'm pretty well pleased with it overall. My only complains are that the keyboard took a little bit of getting used to; Firefox still slows to a crawl after a few hours of use (that's more because it hemorrhages RAM and I use a ton of extensions); and the touchpad is absolutely atrocious -- but I always use a mouse anyway, so no big deal.
I read elsewhere (maybe Slickdeals) that Best Buy gets Asus laptops at a discounted rate because Asus skimps on the warranty. As a result, Best Buy sells them cheaper AND gets to upsell people on warranties. Pretty win-win for Best Buy, I'd say. At any rate, it seemed to be a good value for the money compared to other brands on the market.
