I know you aren't supposed to talk about specific trades, but this is still awaiting dispute resolution, so you can't know what it is for now. This is just about the most pissed off I've even gotten on any trade and I just want to see if others share my opinions or if I'm alone in this. I sent off a VERY clearly factory sealed item. Not only were the security stickers intact but there was even a sticker that came on the wrapper that was still there. The point being there was no way this was even a re-wrap, much less opened. So it's just sitting there in my offers for two weeks or more awaiting feedback. No word from the buyer at all during this time. The first missive from the buyer is leaving me negative feedback for unplayable item while stating, IN THE FEEDBACK, that it was not only received factory sealed, but was received a week before they bothered to leave feedback.

So I'm just curious: When you receive a, again, very clearly factory sealed item, do you open it up and test it before leaving feedback or just leave a positive? I send out quite a lot of sealed items, because I assume others, like myself, prefer to receive unopened product, but if goozex sides with the buyer on this BS, I don't see how I can do that anymore. Really just looking for opinions.

It is possible the disc came loose in shipping. I have had many items show up new and sealed recently, but with the disc bouncing around. Some manage to remain scratch free, others have slight scratching. It is possible his got scratched to where it doesn't play. That is where a dispute to get it sent to goozex is necessary.

I've actually had discs completely missing out of new items. Nothing was cut open or anything either. I had disc 6 missing out of a 6 disc anime set. Thankfully the wonderful people at Rightstuf.com are sending a replacement for that disc, even though I was 10 days late on making a claim.

I suggest taking photos of your packages prior to mailing, so it further proves you sent a sealed item, and helps your side of an argument during a dispute.

Occasionally, I'll go ahead and and just leave a positive if I see a game or movie is sealed before I even test it. But this is only when I'm in a hurry, or being lazy, or it's only 100pts and I trust the seller. Honestly, I probably shouldn't be doing that because if I do find a problem after leaving a positive, I'm sol.

I'd really much rather open it and test it before leaving feedback because I'm a little anal. For example, I've received several Xbox360 games from here and elsewhere and the discs looked flawless; however, I will always try installing them to the hard drive in case there might have been some manufacturing issues with the disc.

I always test my games, regardless of condition.  I'd hate to lose 1000 points because the seal hid an unplayable title, as rare as that case may be.

Since I'm always expecting used though, new looking games tend to catch me off guard and get my immediate attention when it comes to testing.  If everything IS in order, as it generally is, it's worth 5-10 minutes out of my day to quickly test it and get the feedback to the seller that provided the extra nice condition.

I never send sealed items, since there's no way to prove if they work or not.

I am the buyer in this situation and decided I'd add my little 2 cents to the thread.

Yes, Mietha sent me a brand new sealed HD DVD movie.  And most of the time I do just give feedback right away for sealed items.  But a couple days before I received it someone told me they had just started playing a movie which froze at some point and he received it brand new sealed.  After this happened I know test everything I receive as much as I can, even new and sealed.

So I decided to test this movie, and it worked fine at first until about 12 minutes in.  Then I'd skip after that part and not to long after it would freeze again, in fact it would freeze or skip every 5 to 10 minutes during the whole duration of the movie.  This in my mind deems it unplayable.

Now I do believe it is unfortunate because the seller did send me a brand new copy, and I know they think I am scamming them in some way.  But I just don't want to pay points for a movie that I can't watch with out skipping forward every few minutes.

I also took about 5 days til I left negative feedback.  I felt awful about it, and retested the disc every day in hopes something would magically work.

All I hope is that perhaps goozex will side with both of us on this and give him his points because he had good intentions and sent a brand new movie, and give me my points, because it was truly unplayable.

There, that's the buyers side.

I've had unplayable discs that are brand new before, so I refuse to leave positive till I'm sure it works.  Also, kinda harsh to pretty much call out a forum and site regular saying that the trade with them is BS, makes it sound like the buyer is trying to rip you off.  If it was a new person I'd be more inclined to agree.  But ghostworld? I think she's been here long enough and has a good enough track record to at least consider that this is true.

I have purchased a factory sealed game that had no disc inside, so sh*t happens. People are allowed to test their discs, as who knows what happened to something in transit. Also who is to say a seller does not have a shrink wrap machine - there are plenty of businesses that use Goozex (not saying that about mietha, just in general).

One would think this could be dealt with in the dispute resolution center without bitching in public, so maybe that should be where this stays from now on.

sometimes even new and sealed items can come broken. I bought a cd a few years ago and when I opened it there was no disc in it. I also received a new/sealed anime disc from goozex that when I opened it the disc was cracked near the center - fortunately the disc still worked but these things can and do happen every once in a while

If I were the sender in this situation I would look at the buyers feedback to make sure the person who claimed it came broken or didnt arrive wasnt a suspicious noob or have a history of this sort of thing and since in this case it is a member who has a good solid trade history then I would have to trust it as true.

Nope. Forgot to mention it, but the buyer states that the disc looks pristine. Also, the buyer says that it arrived factory sealed.

I didn't call anyone out, on purpose. I named no names, nor would I. I also never said, or even implied, that I thought she was trying to scam. I fully believe that she is most likely telling the truth. The combo HD DVDs are crap, which is part of what lead to their demise. All I wanted was peoples opinion on leaving feedback on sealed items. And seiously, what the *** does being a forum regular have to do with anything? But apparently no one can actually read... Also, being such a "regular" she should damn well know what she did is against the rules. And the BS is referring to the situation, not trading with her, which I have done in the past, nor her feedback, which, again, I never even implied that she was lying. My point was, which again, anyone that had actually READ what I posted would know, was that if you can receive a negative for sending out factory sealed items, I obviously will no longer be doing that, and that sucks. Again, this has not been ruled on. As for track records, mine is pretty damn good too, if you took the time to look.

All this hoopla is why I don't send sealed games either.  I've sent brand new games, but I open them to confirm the contents and test it first.  The potential loss of a 50 point tip the seal would have provided is much better than dealing with this nonsense.

I think I missed the rule breaking here.

You are right.  And it has been dealt with in the dispute center.  I've sent the movie into Goozex for inspection so it is out of both of our hands now, and the outcome is up to Goozex.

The truth is I felt awful about the whole situation, and the last thing I want to do is give a negative to a great trader from Goozex.  So I'm just hoping they will side with both of us on this.

And yes the movie was sealed, and yes the disc looked perfect.  But the movie does not work properly.  And I do feel bad for the seller, because I know they did their part, and they did a great job.  However, I don't want to pay points, however little the amount for a movie that I can't watch.

Lastly, I in no way want this thread to become a flame war where anyone gets bashed or called a liar.  I just want a resolution in the matter.

The rule breaking is that you can not talk about specific trades that can be identified, which is why I named no names, nor even mentioned the sex of the other trader (which kind of narrows the field down...). She named herself, which unless the rules have changed, is against the rules, just from an odd perspective.
