I'm replaying Ocarina of Time, just got Epona, and was filled with this feeling of companionship with the horse that I never really appreciated playing the game when I was younger. Marveling at how essential a part of the game she is, I immediately thought of Agro from Shadow of the Colossus as I was about to declare her the best horse in video game history. I thought it over, and eventually settled on Epona. Here's my bid:
Having anxiously awaited growing into adult Link, there was somewhat of a tug in my stomach about the state disarray the world was now in -- the Town Market decimated, Lon Lon Ranch in the hands of Ingo, ghosts haunting the fields, Lake Hyrule completely drained of water, Zora's Domain frozen over -- all across the world, the incredible task of restoring things to normal had fallen on my shoulders.
And then, all of a sudden, in all the barren hopelessness it was up to me to fix, I would now have a companion through it all. And not like some lifeless car or spaceship from any other game; Epona is a living, breathing reminder of the world that once was, begging to be set right again. She stands majestic and unfettered when left idle, calmly munching on the grass, then just as soon gallops to your side when you play her song, ultimately becoming as complete a part of you as your sword and shield. The only shame, really, is the limited areas you can take her in.
I may have got a little cheesy with the buildup there, but thought she deserved it. Between her and Agro, I don't think any other horse/hero pair comes close. So, what's your vote?
Sidenote: In addition to voting on the poll, feel free to talk about a horse you grew attached to in a game even if it wasn't THE only horse in the game (Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Red Dead Redemption, etc).
I chose Link because I find it to be the superior game. I don't really put much thought intlo the living breathing pixelated horsies.
insertmedia.aspx?AppType=Unknown&ProfileSaved=trueI can imagine a world where there are no guns, no wars, and no violence. Then I can see us taking over that world, because they would never see it coming.
Oh come on you gotta get yourself into it, makes it so much better.
not so hard of a decision... Neither
I only played two Zelda games ever and Ocarina of Time isn't neither of them so, I'm not voting.
I kinda like War + Ruin in Darksiders.
BillsNG:I kinda like War + Ruin in Darksiders.
I've been on the fence about this for a while. Is it worth picking up? ...and it has horses?

I refuse to take part in this poll until a more established gaming duo is added in.

Yes, you have to actually reclaim your horse in a fight.
The game is good. It's derivative but fun. Most common description is 'God Of War meets Zelda'. Just don't judge it until your past the first 1 to 1 1/2 hours because the gameplay during that time is very straightforward and not indicative of the rest of your quest.
There's a free demo on PSN ( dunnno about 360) which is about an hour long. Give it a shot.
SOTC although I quit during the final battle after falling off the stupid Colossus with about 1 hit point left on him. GRRRR!R!!RR!
Zelda though I quit a quarter way through

Thanks, will do! I always forget about demos.
This is a very difficult poll...in that I have no answer for it, having not played the first game, nor having any long term attachment to the horse in Zelda.
I accidentally shot my horse in the back of the head in RDR yesterday when a bunch of small coyotes attacked in a large group right under my horse's feet. I felt pretty bad about that.

Oblivion horses
Extremely hard poll, especially since I love both games.
But I'd vote for Wanderer/Agro pairing becuase of how essntial Agro is to the game. Think of how long it would take you to finish the game without him?
Also,
*SPOILER*
It really hit home at the end of the game when Agro fell in the valley. I was seriously stunned and sat there for a good minute speachless, I couldn't believe it. Of course all was well at the end when I found out he didn't die. =)
That was a pretty easy poll. It would have been harder if you didn't include voting buttons.
