I found this pretty funny.
insertmedia.aspx?AppType=Unknown&ProfileSaved=trueI can imagine a world where there are no guns, no wars, and no violence. Then I can see us taking over that world, because they would never see it coming.
I'm personally a huge fan of the origins in Allstar Batman and the Boy Wonder Robin. I know it gets a lot of flack from people online but it seems to make a whole lot more sense than all of the previous stories about the batman/robin origin.
Funny.

Unfortunately it's because the "real story" is far too simple. DC suits demanded Batman get a kid sidekick to attract dumb young assclowns to buy the book because most people are so unimaginative they can only read a story where they directly identify w/ a lead protagonist.
Even worse, it worked. Robin increased sales of the comic instantly. Forever tainting the truth of what the Batman character represents.
Fortunately, enough talented writers, forced to use RObin, managed to make the character work in the mythos. The concept of a Bat-Family finally became cool w/ the Cassandra Cain Batgirl. Nightwing,a cheesey 80s/70s looking "Robin goes disco" actually became a decent character.
And the Robin in the Teen Titans became quite a good character on his own, the Tim Drake robin that is.
Hexpane: But man, being able to spin some cheesey corporate mandate like "add in a kiddy character, and since most of the right wing anti comics "red scare" crowd are secretly gay but in a repressed society, no one will notice the obvious inappropriate implications of a pantless young boy sidekick who lives in a house with a brooding loner man. The radical right wingers ate up the concept of Robin and how "wholesome" he was. Meanwhile they were all cheating on their wives with other right wing blowhard d00ds in restrooms.

How about we keep this thread free of inflammatory comments like this, and not turn it into something ugly.

Deleted it upon request.
What remains is a true story, literally Batman got Robin via corporate mandate to sell books to kids, and it worked. Robin = Justin Bieber

I feel like Hexpane was finally starting to calm down around here and then someone had to go and mention Robin.

you can have my money but I'll be damned if you take my children.
I wonder if this is based on the same Alfred that was so adamant about crafting nipples on the rubber outfits in the movie...
I like the Robin stuff on Superdickery better.
No self respecting comic fan or free speech advocate can accept the red scare / comics code days without e-rage against the illegal and unconstitutional attacks on art and people. I forget what channel it was, but there was a nice lil documentary about those days and what artists/writers had to go through.

You guys should lighten up a little. After all it's only a comic, not like you're talking graphic novels is it?
I have spent most of my money on women and beer. The rest I just wasted....
