Bioshock 2 gave me a massive headache whenever I played it. Weird.

Rock band and Guitar Hero games give me motion sickness if I play them too long. =/

Oh yea, I forgot about rhythm games. Whenever I finish playing something with scrolling notes, everything looks like it's moving up and down. Like when you stand in one spot and spin, and when you stop everything is still spinning. Except with rhythm games, everything's spinning vertically.

Yeah, that is exactly what I experience. Actually made me really nauseous one night after playing too long.

It happens to me with FPS and some racing games. The FPS part sucks because I really wanted to play Half-Life 2, I had the Orange Box but everything on there made me sick. I powered through Portal because it was short enough but some of the fall into a portal to propel and shoot another portal to go into and the level towards the end where you had to use portals to climb up platforms on opposite sides of the room made me drop the controller more than once. It was worth it for Portal though, but as much as I am looking forward to Portal 2 I am also not looking forward to it. I might try motion sickness medication and if it works go back and play HL2. I would like to give Borderlands a try too but I know the art style combined with the 1st person perspective would not work for me.

Believe me, it sucks when you hear about a new game coming out and it sounds spectacular then you find out it is a 1st person perspective and I probably can't play it.

I actually got a very bad stomach ache after playing PORTAL!  This had never happened to me in all my years of gaming, it was a really good game, and i wanted to finish it, so i just took like a 20 minute break every hour otherwise I fell like I would have thrown up.

I'm prone to migraines, so if I play any game for more than 3 or so hours without a break I start to get a headache. If I ignore it and keep playing I'll start to vomit and feel like hell. That happens with any game, but in actuality I'm kind of thankful for it because it forces me to play in moderation.

Other than that, the demo for Mirror's Edge gave me motion sickness. I played it for about 10 minutes and started to feel sick.

Mirror's Edge made me sick.  I think it's the combination of very bright/contrasting colors and bouncing camera.

Forgot about that one, first time I played it on a big screen I got a great sense of vertigo. I kept jumping off the buildings intentionally because of that. Too bad they didn't do anything interesting with the game.

For the first time ever, I think a game is literally making me sick.  The game in question is Dead Space.  I've really enjoyed the game so far, but both times playing it I've begun to feel nauseous after an hour or so and had to stop.  While I've heard of certain games causing motion sickness or whatnot, in ALL my years of gaming (25 years or so) I've never experienced it.  Maybe it's the way the screen seems to spin due to the third person perspective, I don't know.  It's a bummer because I've REALLY liked the game so far, but if it's gonna make me feel like I have to puke, I'm out.  I figure I'll give it one more go to see if it was just a fluke.

Have you ever had this experience with a game?

I get the same feeling with Dead Space as well.

Dead Space affected me this way, as well. The worst was an FPS where you were in the back of a moving vehicle, shooting at enemies that were chasing you. I'm not sure which game it was but I want to say maybe CoD 2?

Ah yes... I had to play Mirror's Edge in brief sessions to avoid getting sick.

I've gotten sick playing Dead Space too, but I think it's because I find it so scary, not because of the camera or anything. I find myself not wanting to turn corners, checking behind myself constantly, or jumping at the slightest noises. I suppose this is intentional, but unlike some, the novelty never wears off for me. I'm terrified but I keep pushing until I reach the next save point and then take a break. I want to play it some more, but just the idea kinda scares me.

Of course it doesn't help that I play it late at night, in the dark, alone. Or maybe I'm just a pansy? Who knows?

P.S. = I don't think it was CoD2, maybe CoD3? More vehicular sequences in that one.

Most FPS games make me feel motion sick, but probably the worst series for the issue was Zone of the Enders.

Agreed, when I first played Descent years and years ago (or is it decades Surprise) it made me somewhat queezy. The whole 'which direction is up' thing was a bit hard to handle at first, but since then Ive been fine.

Sometimes I get a vertigo feeling where it feels like I'm falling\in motion\sinking into the couch.

As far as feeling sick, I think the only game that really ever made me sick is Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, because when it came out I was on summer break and well I had one of those "all-nighters" (you know the kind: where you wake up from a video game coma with your clothing feeling stale and your skin feels all clammy at 6:30 AM  and you've realized as the sun is rising that you've spent the last 18 straight hours of your life plugged into your ps2). I don't think I've ever felt more repulsed with myself as I did at that moment... that's why I only play xbox360 now...  ; )

I literally was on the verge of throwing up when i played dark void. I didnt mind it at first, but when the camera shifted downwards where like the ground was cover. The camera shifted up and your character was looking down. Tried it a few times, but kept feeling like i was gonna barf lol. so.... turned into gamestop the next day. never had anything like this happen to me before. been playing games since i was 3.

Thanks DJ for the sick sig!  ^^^^^^
