I have a Gamecube, but I also have a Wii! Should I keep the Gamecube? Also, its missing the power cable, so if I keep it I need to buy a new one .
A Wii plays all Gamecube games 100% flawlessly. If you have a Wii there is no reason to still have a GC.
I know, but it seems like a waste getting rid of all the memories with that cube. sigh...
Well just put in the closet or something if you have memories attached to it. The memories are probably worth more than the $15 you'd get for it anyway.
I know when my SNES dies, after I finish crying, it's getting a permanent spot on a shelf in my house so everytime I walk by it I can remember the good times.
The best times I had with the Gamecube were the hours I spent playing The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. One of my favorite games, but I stupidly sold it, and now I'm hoping I can find a new copy. I never understood Twilight Princess hype, because my friend lent it to me until I beat it, but found it kind of boring. I returned it the day after.
Keep it for the next Nintendo console that plays Wii games but not GCN. See: the DS.
You'll enjoy not having to pick up the wii remote to start up a game that isn't going to use it, plus the GCN's vastly superior start up sequence.
I haven't thrown out my GC thinking that I would bring it into my computer room and use it on my second monitor at some point, but that never really happened...
The one small thing that the GC does that the Wii doesn't have the ability to do is to display GBA and GBC games.I miss that attachment but i guess those games are all last generation anyway.
Image and stuff:
It's not quite 100% compatibility, but more like 99.999%. The only reason you would need a GC over a Wii is the Gameboy Player (mentioned) or you want to use the broadband adapter.
The BBA works for like 3 games - PSO, Mario Kart LAN, and I think like Kiby's Air Ride or something. I can't say they're really worth having a GC around, unless you still want to play PSO online.
Even Linux works better on the Wii.
I'd keep it for the memories. Selling my GC was one of my worst decisions I ever made.
I still have my silver gamecube. It sits tucked away in a closet collecting dust at the moment... but I just can't seem to bring myself to get rid of it.
I still have my N64 because I still play games on it, and because it was the first console I was given, so it holds a lot of memories.Keep your Gamecube.
Keep it. In 10 years you will want to buy it again for double the price of whatever you sell it for.
Two things to keep in mind
1) In Europe, the newest Wii revision is no longer backwards compatible. This will eventually come here as well so if your Wii breaks at that time, then you are screwed if you got rid of your GC.
2). Wii U will not support GC games should you upgrade and no longer have your Wii.
It all depends how many games that you have on the system and how many you still want to play. If you are pretty much done with that system then get rid of it. If not, hold on to it. It's not like it takes a lot of room :)
HELL YES keep it!! I have all my nintendo systems from the original system to the Wii. My NES doesn't work anymore but I still have it & want to buy another one. I have all my games for the other systems & still play them too.
I still play with my Spice GC controller (wired) even though I have a Wavebird. Granted, the rumble's nice too, but I really just prefer the color.
