1. they went through a lot of trouble to get a court order to make microsoft look for the IP address.
2. They never found the person from the IP address.
3. The reason they found the thief is from their own detective work and had nothing to do with microsofts help.
4. If you buy a stolen item and you do not know it is stolen and you are caught in possession of the stolen item you do not get charged
