As a parent (and a weirdo), I get most of my game playing done late at night. Often I fall asleep while playing (yes, with the controller still in my limp hands). When I awaken in the wee hours, I am forced to confront a problem that my sleep starved brain has a difficult time remedying. What do you do?

Sleep or Game?

  • 1. Turn off the game and go to bed. (17%)
  • 2. Play till you reach a save point and then go to bed. (51.1%)
  • 3. Turn off the TV but leave the game system on and wait to play the next day. (14.9%)
  • 4. Completely ignore the game, stumble to the kitchen and blindly stuff some food into your mouth before collapsing into bed without brushing your teeth. (17%)
  • Total Votes: 47

To the detriment of my game systems, I usually go with #3...and to be honest #4 happens more than I'd like to admit.

I have never fallen asleep playing video games.  If I did I would choose option 2.

For PC and console games, I do number 2. If it's on a handheld that has sleep mode, I do number 3. I suppose your poll indicates consoles, so number 2 for myself. I have never done number 4, since I brush my teeth around 10 pm to prevent myself from eating later on. I'm too lazy to brush my teeth twice in one night.

It depends on what I'm playing honestly. For the most part I just say F-this and shut it off and go stumble into bed and pass out. If I've spent hours trying to get to a save point or something along those lines I'll suck it up and ATTEMPT to save, but if I can't make it, I just shut it off anyway, unless I've found something totally cool and awesome/rare/impossible to get, and then I suck it up and keep my eyes open lol.

#4 all the way.  My wife loves old sandwich and malt liquor on my breath when we wake in the morning.

I picked #2, although #4 seems quite appealing as well....mmmm...late night snack and poor dental hygeine,,,doesn't get much better than that!

This.  Though I suppose it depends on the title you fell asleep on as well.  A title in which a lot of time and progress could be lost, I'd likely press on.  If it's something like Wii Sports, where all you'll lose is your current high score or something else trivial, I'd just shut the thing off.
