Well, let's throw my 2 cents into the pot.

Nintendo: By far the clear winner. Before the cries of "fanboy!" even escape your lungs, remember, I don't own a wii. The 3DS is by far the most impressive thing I've ever seen at an E3, even so more than Natal or Move. It has 3D, without the need for glasses, it's graphics are on par with it's big brother system, and it even has a accelerometer and gyroscope. in addition, the game library consists of major franchises, including Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Mario Kart, Saint's Row, and a remake of Ocarina of Time is in the works too. Even though the 3DS was the highlight of Nintendo's conference, the Wii had an impressive lineup, with a new Zelda, Epic Mickey, Metroid, Donkey Kong, and a gorgeous new Kirby game.

Microsoft: Natal (or Kinect, I should say) is very, very impressive technology, but, besides The Star Wars game and a few of the minigames, the demoes of Natal looked a LOT like Wii Sports. However, a lot of the nongaming demoes, such as the ESPN deal, were very nice. To be honest, I think Kinect as well as Move, will end up failing. However, I'd say Kinect has a better chance at making it, mainly because it's a lot different than a Wii in terms of tech, whereas Move is essentially a slightly upgraded wii controller. Besides Kinect, though, Microsoft didn't really do anything; they just showed off Gears of War 3 and Reach, as well as the New Call of Duty (and that abysmal DLC deal).

Sony: By far the worst conference. Not much in the way of new announcements (then again, we knew pretty much everything already), besides the paid PSN service and the announcement of Move's release. However, Sony's lineup of LBP2, Killzone 2, inFAMOUS 2, and the inevitable Resistance 2 is very impressive.

Nintendo won because they are the only ones to introduce a new system.  The 3ds looks to have similar graphics to the gamecube, which is much better than the n64 type graphics of the current ds.  I didn't care for the games being announced.  They're big names but only donkey kong (maybe metroid) caught my eye, I love 2D gameplay.  Heck, when Mr. Miyamoto has trouble controlling link, you know there's problems.

Microsoft made a more comparable system to the ps3 with built-in wi-fi and being quieter, which is nice, but it still doesn't beat ps3 hardware with blu-ray and being 3D ready.

The "Move" looks better than the wiimote imo, but I have little interest in it.  3D?  Not many can afford it yet.  The twisted metal announcement was nice to see though.

Nintendo announced a handheld that is MORE POWERFUL than the Wii, PSP, PS2, XBOX1 etc... and a ton of N64 remakes (which include some of the best games from that era)

Instant win.   MSOFT's conf was boring, and Sony's was full of advertising and lame marketing gimmics like "marcusPSP".   This is the first E3 ninny has "won" in while.  However "winning" E3 means nothing.   MSOFT has won E3 a bunch of times, as has Sony and in the end it didnt matter either way, Ninny outsold them both.

The sad fact is the 3DS is more interesting than the PSP or Wii.   Ninny managed to insult both their competitor's hardware and their own w/ the sheer awesomeness of a truly powerful handheld.

Now we have to wonder how they are going to deal with handheld piracy. Sony flopped hard w/ PSPgo,  NDS is pirated like crazy, PSP is pretty much the best pirate handheld ever...MSOFT doesnt want to lose money so they have stayed out of the handheld business. Good for stockholders, bad for gamers.

Without a doubt Ninny "won" in a landslide.   But will it matter?   XBOTs I know are already amped to buy a XBOXSLIM... why?  "It's quieter"

You know consumers have hit a new low when they willingly celebrate the option to buy hardware for the SAME CONSOLE THEY ALREADY OWN because this time it wont sound like a scud missile or RROD on them as much.

YAY?

-Still no PS2, PS3 BC announced

-MSOFT showed a bunch of games we already know about

-Sony showed MARCUSPSP FAIL anti humor

-Sony showed Coca Cola ... WTF?

-Nintendo showed pretty much games only

At least there were no chillaxing MSOFT JAllard hoodie/blazers

Yeah, I thought the PSP was supposed to be marketed for adult gamers, and now a little kid is their spokesman?

I hope they have a commercial of him playing Grand Theft Auto.  Lots of parents would go apeshit.

Eh, nothing wowed me this year.  Maybe it was just that most of what was shown has been floating around on the net for a while now so not much of it was "new and exciting" for me.  On the fence with the 3DS but that's just because I don't see it sticking around for too long before the next Nintendo Handheld comes sprinting onto the scene. (3DSi...xl...grqu...jil427hygrn?)  It was the easily the main hardware attraction imo though.

As for games......meh all around.  Was really looking forward the new Castlevania but was overall underwhelmed with what I saw.  Gears 3 will probably be fun but it's just gears 1 and 2 with a couple new people.  I'm sure I'll end getting tricked into Zelda, even with the stupid motion controls.  MS and Sony just came across as bunch of followers with their lackluster fray into the motion control scene, innovating very little but just enough I guess so they can say "it's not like the Wii, it's better because BLAH"

Guess we'll have to wait for the next generation of consoles to hit before we're truly in "AWE" of anything at E3.

My only beef with the Nintendo Wii is that it really doesn't have the quality third party titles and mostly tries to make bank of their first party titles.  Their first party titles are alright but when you keep going back over and over and over to the same few franchises, it cannot reasonably sustain an entire brand.

When you keep telling me your big release every year will be either Mario, Zelda or Metroid then I cannot really get that excited too much that you have no exciting alternatives and third party titles coming my way.

It is getting better. Gamecube was a step up over N64 in that department. And the Wii is a massive step over GC in that area. While it's not as good as the others, they're plenty of good 3rd party gems if you look for them.

I thought about this, too.  Nintendo's become much more aggressive in the fight against piracy in the time since they debuted the DS, but hackers love their handheld devices.  Both the PSP and the DS have been turned inside out.  It hasn't really slowed down the DS, but Sony has to pull teeth to get publishers to support the PSP.

I really don't want to see such an awesome, promising platform turned into a paperweight by a bunch of bored trolls.  The PS3's strategy seems to have worked pretty well for them thusfar.  I hope Nintendo isn't too proud to adopt something similar, or even that the strategy can be easily pared down to a portable device.

The difference is that you need special hardware for DS piracy. The PSP is prone to piracy out of the box with no additional hardware needed.

When I look at the list of Wii games on book with release dates so far, the third party titles of interest are mostly shovelware and there are few quality titles in the mix.

There are only four titles that I can find that are announced so far as coming to the Wii from third parties that spark my interest.  I don't have a huge PS3 library either but even the PS3 has just barely over that in third party exclusives I want.

Chris, I don't consider all of the titles you listed as quality titles and I was talking about upcoming releases, not games already released.

I have some really great third party titles on the Wii you didn't mention, but I feel like that support is going away because the third party titles are selling less than the shovelware does.

I thought the PSP piracy issue was fixed with the last firmware update.  I was about to trade out my original NES and some games for a PSP and some other goodies and a buddy of mine told me not to make the trade if the PSP has the latest firmware because it is difficult/impossible to crack.

Most of the shovelware is from third party companies. Plus the shovelware sells because of parents who don't know a crap game when they see one, and kids who are attracted to shiny packaging.
