My opinions, in case anyone cared to know:

Nintendo: The new Zelda game... everyone please turn off your phones, we are having some interference! Really? That was extremely awkward. And Reggie Fils-Aime, the COO of Nintendo, admitted that it was technical bugs in the game that were causing the problem while being interviewed on G4. Besides that, the game looks too cartoony for me. I loved the Lord of the Rings-esque look of Twilight Princess much more. It just looks like a step back. I want to focus more on the gameplay and less on how you game. Way too Wii-mote focused. Donkey Kong and Metroid (Other M? stupid sub-name) made my day.

Microsoft: The Cirque du Soleil performance for Natal was... interesting. But none of the games for it looked that interesting. I guess my mom would like yoga...? Halo Reach and Gears 3 looked great but I already knew all about them. I was hoping to see something new that would blow me away but nada.

Sony: 3D gaming sounds cool and all, but uh, I'm not rich. I'm not about to go out and buy all this new stuff so I can play for an hour before getting a headache. Look, Avatar was all I could stand and I love that movie. I saw it three times. But if that didn't make me buy a 3D t.v., nothing will. Killzone 3 was sweet but Twisted Metal? Wtf? I hoped that series died a long time ago. I though bringing out an insane machete-wielding killer clown was an odd way to end a press conference. It looked like ICP just invaded my living room. Ugh.

Any thoughts?

I guess you never played twisted metal black? It was the rebirth that the series needed to become as much fun as TM2. You sir are definitely in the minority with that opinion.

Really?  I thought Twisted Metal looked pretty sweet.  It's much higher on my want list than LittleBigPlanet 2 or Killzone 3... but my tastes in gaming apparently don't follow the "norm".

The one thing that impressed me during the Sony presentation was how appealing Move looked because of Tiger Woods PGA Tour.  Right now Tiger Woods is probably the single best reason for core gamers (at least core gamers interested in sports) to own a Wii, and Sony went for the jugular by proving that anything Wii can you, they can do better.  Those couple of minutes proved to me that the controller is worth investing in, regardless of what other games use it. By comparison, Microsoft spent a huge amount of time showcasing their Kinect but used games that were so lame that even a Wii-lover like me wasn't sold on the end result.

One odd note from Nintendo's conference: the "interference" is being talked about a lot, but  none of the hands-on reports I've seen talk about any issues.  Not sure why it happened, and it sure looked bad at the moment... but at this point it seems like a legit excuse.

If you thought sonys conference was just "meh" you must have thought horribly of nintendo's and even worse of microsoft's.

No, I'm pretty sure that Nintendo kicked Sony's ass this time around.

Kirby game - possibly the most embarressing game to ever have someone walk in on you playing

You obviously haven't seen or played Love Plus yet.  Apparently there is an edition that comes with a "pillow girlfriend".

That said, if being caught playing a "cute" game really would feel embarrassing then maybe you need to find a way to prove your manhood outside of video games.

3DS - not for me, but neither is the DS or any other iteration of it

Goldeneye - wish it was remade on one of the other two systems as an arcade/psn title

Metroid - see goldeneye comment, but still looks like a lot of fun

LOL... glad to hear you gave them a chance though.  No bias or predetermined opinions coming out here!

All three presentations had high and low points.  Microsoft whiffed with their Kinect showing though, and Sony had more flash than substance.  Between the host of great game announcements/demos and the impressive new hardware (bringing the first true 3D gaming system to the public) Nintendo actually scrapped out a best of show rating in my opinion.

I think at the end of the day the playstation's 3d gaming will be king of that mountain. In the interest of full disclosure though I own a LED 3d television, so i am probably being a bit biased. The kirby comment is more about how juvinille it looks more than how feminine it looked, I liken it to playing backyard sports games.

Childish? Yes. Feminine? It has pink. GROW UP. Pizza

On a more serious note, I am probably as biased as you are not caring about Sony 3D, simply because I have no 3D TV. Just upgraded to HD two years ago, so maybe I'll check it out when 3DTV is cheaper and more evolved.

Too true, the graphics are horrible compared to most things we have been seeing at E3.

So jealous!  Are there many (any?) games that actually support 3D yet?  Obviously a whole bunch are on the way... but I wasn't sure if PS3 already had some.

I missed the Sony conference and plan on downloading through PSN later today. I have seen MS and Nintendo and I was satisfied with both. Nintendo brings a lot of older IPs back in the game and I'm fine with that. I like what I'm seeing from Epic Mickey as well. Overall, Nintendo's press conference was heck of a lot better than it has been in the last few years.

I think that people easily forget that we are in the current console lifespan cycle. Other than games and a few periphials you will not see anything else for a few more years.

I wouldn't worry too much about a 3D TV any time soon.  3D's main drawback is the glasses and that will keep it from being the "wave of the future" they're making it out to be.  When they can perfect a cost effective 3D technology that doesn't need the glasses THEN 3D will make a bigger impact.  I'm sure it'll stick around in it's current form for at least a few more years but we're getting closer and closer to, affordable, non-glasses 3D technology.  That will be the next big jump if 3D is to truly succeed.

Yeah, new versions of games we have already played 20 times. I got tired of Zelda 10 years ago, Donkey Kong Country was good for it's time, but the sequels drove it into the ground and it wasn't begging to be dug up. I don't understand the hype for a new zelda. Just go replay any of the previous ones they are all the same. Oh wait it is a train instead of a boat this time, that's new.

Don't get me wrong though, Nintendo at least didn't have to give away consoles to the attendees as an apology for how crappy their conference was.

And Sony, keep pushing 3D, I am not buying new TV and I am not wearing glasses to play games, keep pushing and I'll stick to the consoles that work on my TV as is. Talk to me about 3D at the 2015 E3 when the technology is ready for mainstream use in the PS4.

I've never really understood the appeal of 3D when it comes to gaming. It's a fad that cycles around every 10 years or so. A movie theatre big screen I do understand, it makes the movie supposedly a more immersive experience. Staring at your HDTV screen which is a few feet away and on average about 50" means you are staring into a small 3D window, the boundries of which ruin the 3D illusion. I think the applications in gaming are limited and more of a novelty then anything else.

I have spent most of my money on women and beer. The rest I just wasted....
