MelancholyVagrant:

Sinnr's right. Obama just signed the Act in February 2010. To try to stop the big push to give credit cards to college students.

:

Just for educational purposes, I did locate a reference to what I thought I had read about

This is from The Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009:

Sec. 301. Extensions of credit to underage consumers.

Requires that credit card issuers, when soliciting to persons under the age of 21, obtain an application that contains either: (1) the signature of a parent, guardian, other qualified individual willing to take financial responsibility for the debt; (2) information indicating an independent means of repaying any credit extended; or (3) proof that the applicant has completed a certified financial literacy or financial education course.

------

Like many things, I'm not sure I agree with the method being employed, although I understand the principal of why they're doing it.   Taking finance 101 doesn't instantly make you a responsible person, although I suppose you should at least learn that you do need to pay money back that you borrow, but I digress.

Obviously, this has gone off topic, and I apologize for my contribution is taking it that way, but I felt that I should at least provide closure on this statement.

It seems 3 should be required in today's society.  I don't know why so many people around my age (25) have such a hard time dealing with debt.  I never had any specific training with finance growing up, but I also never had a hard time respecting money and debts.  There are just so many people that can't handle their money properly that it blows my mind.

I've personally coached multiple people out of debt with...get this, common sense and some rudimentary financial planning.  Unfortunately, I know for a fact one has fallen back into debt since I moved away, but he's only partially to blame.  His wife LOVES to spend money they don't have....and HATES to work.  He just refuses to put a stop to it anymore.  My sympathy waned for him once he stopped listening; despite seeing that some simple steps DO get your out of debt...a shame really.  He cleared 3 credit cards with my help.

Nice Kenny, I am with you there.  My dad absolutely hates credit cards, and his reasoning is that "when youre in college and cant afford to feed yourself a credit card looks like a great way to solve your problem and then you are under a mountain of debt"  I love my dad, but I know that he did that when he was in school and that is why he hates credit cards.  But even with that model to follow "credit cards are evil and will ruin your life"  I still manage to benefit from the points that credit cards give me just because I pay bills I was going to pay anyway with my credit card, and thanks to that I have earned back at least 400 dollars of my bills since 18 and I got my playstation 3 for 100 bucks, not to mention an awesome credit score.

At least the people on this forum seem to have some sense when it comes to things like that.  It is infuriating when I read comments on financial articles and people just say oh that is unreasonable that I should just not spend money I don't have...

I'm currently working on setting that up now, after seeing how much free money I was wasting.

Applied and was approved for a credit card that applies 1% of all purchases towards my mortgage principle.  I'm going to pay as many bills as I can with it....including my mortgage if I'm successful (most mortgage companies won't take CCs directly...have to use a third party).

I loves me some free points, and I never carry a material balance.  I pay my CCs weekly with whatever spare cash I've got.

yeah, I have the amazon card and that is 1 point per dollar, and 3 per dollar on amazon, and I get $50 back at 5000 points, so its like 1% cash back.  I haven't carried a balance over since 18.  If I had a mortgage I would definitely do what you are doing though because to be honest I don't really save the 50 dollars every time, I end up buying stuff.  But I'm not in any kind of long term loan besides my husbands student loans and i don't think there is a card that will automatically put 1% toward that.

Dang I sound old... lol... so any way video games... yeah

I guess credit card laws are different in Canada since I got my credit card when I was 20.  Its funny when I got it I was employed making a lot of money and they gave me a limit of 1000.  About a month or so after I got the card I was no longer employed and have been a stay at home dad for the last 4 years and my limit keeps going up and up.  My limit is 11000 now which is crazy.  I never carry a balance though and only really use it because I get airmiles by using it and the wife loves her airmiles.

As for what someone stated in the thread earlier I think a questionaire before joining the site would be good.  When you go to activate your account after joining it should take you straight to the faq and then to the questionaire.  Until you get all 10 questions right you can not trade.  This would make everyone read the faq and understand how to use the site before trading.

Really? People it's just a case.  A piece of Plastic that has nothing to do with the game itself. When I go to buy a game or request a game i'm not looking at the container that it comes in. Really is this a baseball card? Does it really need to not have bent corners? You can't stick the case in your game console can you? Is there some sort of "special" downloadable content on the case itself? If all of you "collectors" are so concerned with the case GO BUY THE GAME AT YOUR LOCAL GAME STORE! This is a second hand, if not more, game your receiving. The DISC is what should be the most important part of the whole deal. So give the kid a break, quit giving him a hard time for his age, etc. Unbelievable over a stupid piece of plastic.

There is an option for when you have just the disc that plays called DISC ONLY.  If you don't have the case, you don't have the case.  Just list it appropriately.  Them's the rules, and that's all anyone is asking the OP to do here.  The only reason he's getting so much flak is because of his flippant response that made him seem like he was intentionally flaunting the rules based on his personal interpretation of them.

P.S. Do a search for "Origami Paper" in the forums and read that thread.  Indifferent
