JurassicUtility:
Nice cite.  I actually didn't know that the "full disc rental sticker = negative" thing was a set in stone rule.  I think I need to reread the FAQ - it's been about a year.

I think that they mean a sticker on the disc itself not the case because of this statement.

JurassicUtility:
In addition to this rule, if your disc contains a thick protection sticker/label from a rental store, then the item is not tradeable on Goozex as the stickers potentially cause an imbalance in the disc drive and may permanently damage the buyer's system."

it says in the beginning.

JurassicUtility:
One type is the legitimate retail production item that may contain a removeable rental sticker on the case (tradeable).

So I think that you had the right idea before reading this.  It took me a couple of read-throughs to understand what they were trying to say.  I myself have never seen these reduced functionality rental games anywhere, but we only have a blockbuster in these here parts, and I will say that I have recently been seeing special copies of movies at blockbuster that have rental clearly printed on the disc itself, so if they make games that have something similar to that going on, then I wouldn't want one either.

That's how I understood it, yes.  I was specifically referring to this bit:

In addition to this rule, if your disc contains a thick protection sticker/label from a rental store, then the item is not tradeable on Goozex as the stickers potentially cause an imbalance in the disc drive and may permanently damage the buyer's system.

I was aware that there was some conversations with mods and such which established that a lot of people felt the rental copies of games that have a label encompassing stickers were unacceptable for the reasons given in the excerpt of the FAQ I was referring to.  A lot of unique trading issues on the site get handled on a case by case basis, so you'll tend to see people talk about "precedented cases" in which certain disputes were handled certain ways.  I guess what I was trying to say was that I was a little surprised to see that the FAQ was a lot more definitive on things like this then say - a year ago.  Which was the last time I'd read it.

Oh, sorry I misunderstood you.  Although I will say I am glad it is so definitive.  I personally wouldn't put a game with stickers in any of my machines.  Except blue ps2 games, as in my experience they won't play without scotch tape on them because they are made unbalanced.  I would certainly take that off before giving a game to someone else.

I hope you don't think I was coming off as a know it all, i just thought that it would be easier to put the individual parts I was talking about in quotes.

No need to apologize.  The misunderstanding was partly my fault as I didn't bother to make it clear exactly which part of the text I was talking about.  To be honest I'm not exactly sure what an "illegitimate rental copy" is either.  Still, as long as you verify your movie listings by cross checking UPC code against database there shouldn't be a problem.

I havent read all five pages but to answer your question, if you do not provide the full original materials then you are in the wrong.  It's an honest mistake, when you start out you are bound to make a goof somewhere.

In the future just be sure when trading that you have the original items for which you are listing and you'll be just fine.

I finally read through this entire thread and WTF @ the OP

Just because you notified him doesn't mean you can just accept and send. If he doesn't answer, let it time out and try again. You should have gotten permission and you deserve a neutral.

Second, I am so tired of the kids on here. Yes, we do have some that use Goozex correctly and what not, but the fact of the matter is that Goozex is for 18 and up. The OP's dad should handle any and all transactions, not the son. It would be nice if Goozex could find a way to enforce this rule.

How about if they get on the forum with some stupid thread about a scammer, and then they turn out to be the scammer, and then admit that they are 15, Goozex just bans them... Sounds simple to me

I wish Goozex had some sort of quiz upon registration.

I thought about this for a few minutes, and this seems like a really good idea.

I don't know if the extremely lazy would be dismayed by this step, but then again, that's exactly who we DON'T want to see.

A 10 question quiz would be a great way to get accustomed with the in's and out's of the site; ideally having read the FAQ prior.  Even if they got the answers from others by cheating, at least they'd know them.  I'm not sure what the penalty would be for failing, or what would stop anyone from brute forcing the thing, but ideally something would still have been learned throughout.

The overall ignorance of the basics of this site, as well as the same questions being repeated over an over, is a bit alarming, though I suppose not unique to this site at all.

lol, it says it in his bio, and I saw another kid that actually had his age in his profile as 15.  Should the system have even let them set up when entering the age as lower than 18 in the registration process?  Nothing against the 15 year olds who can complete a trade properly.  If you aren't going around blabbing that you are underage (posting discreetly in one forum post is not blabbing, to the couple of kids that did that here) and you are responsible with your trades whatever, but it isn't that intelligent to put right on your profile that you violated the terms of service, which makes me think that you aren't going to be intelligent enough to follow the rules either...

Look more than a few people let you know what you did wrong. Nobody is trying to get in to an argument with a 15 year old. FYI now that I know how you trade I myself will never except a trade from you. Like someone else told you leave it up to your dad to do the trading for you.

Have fun canceling that trade and moving all the way to the back of the line.

Austin11:

wow ur cool "M" rated games.

I started playing m games when i was like 10!

My parents could care less about the rating, its just a game.

Doesn't mean you should have played them. When I had the misfortune of working in video game retail I had a term for what M-rated games do to kid who play them too early. Basically it's that:

"Grand Theft Auto kills Santa Claus."

A terrible idea I'm sure but quite true, your imagination dies when you play some M-rated games too early. A lot of them don't do the damage but some stuff, like GTAIV, kills off the dynamic imagination you may or may not have possessed.

Also, it gives you bad ideas. In GTA you can pay for the prostitute for her services, then chase her down, kill her and get your money back.

Please don't use Goozex like a prostitute. You shouldn't be allowed to give less than what someone expects. I had a copy of Fable II limited edition but I listed it as the regular because I didn't have the cardboard case that slipped onto the game case and I didn't want to be unfair. Everything about this is unfair and I really hope you don't go off and make a new account so that you can continue your not-so-happy-time practices. I've only just started using Goozex and it's fantastic and I've convinced so many people to try it but your mentality makes it dangerous.

BTW, I'm sure everyone else realizes this too but your dad doesn't share the account with you. Your dad may have given you permission or you may have just set it up in his name but it's obvious you control the account. GTA makes kids liars too! :O

The biggest problem about 15 year olds on the site is generally they have to go to the post office to mail games.  And they don't have cars.  So i don't get my games for like 30 days until i leave a negative and all sorts of excuses come out and they finally manage to ship the game.

This thread is awesome. The OP was just belligerent enough in defending his ridiculous notion without turning it into a stupid flame war. So, I guess he gets credit for that?

And to answer the question in the title. Yes, scammer on Goozex.

The idea that a 15-year old can't handle trading on this site is ludicrous.  My *9* year old trades on here, and I have yet to see one complaint on any of her trades.  Yes, I helped her get going and monitor things as a responsible parent, but I don't make her decisions for her.

There is a distinct difference between those who act their chronological age and those who are far above/below.  I think any attempt to limit strictly by age is a disservice to the community.

That being said, the OP doesn't sound 15 to me.  Would you trust that child with a car in another year??
