Not to thread jack or anything but has anyone received their Red Faction yet?  Seems like it's been quite some time and mine hasn't arrived.

I think it was 4-6 weeks for it to ship.  Haven't received mine either, but i'm not going to start rioting for another 2 weeks.

As far as Darksiders - had fun with it and generally enjoyed the ride.  At least series it chose to borrow from blended well, but the game never seemed to overcome and exceed it's influences to become something great or memorable.  The throw-away plot didn't do it any favors - at no point was I truly invested in the story or characters.

Side note: Mark Hamill voice acting FTW.

Red Faction: Guerrilla and Darksiders Hellbook Incoming

Wondering where are your copies of the Darksiders Hellbook and Red Faction: Guerrilla? They should start appearing over the course of next week, starting March 23. The wait is almost over!

The demo did absolutely nothing for me. The character design and graphics felt weak. The enemies were boring. Maybe it gets better but I deleted it before I even got to the end of the demo. I'd rather play GOW Collection. Even the Dante's demo was more fun.

I personally liked Dante's better then Darksiders.

Only been 4 weeks... wow, seems like it has been longer. Now I wonder when my free copy of Halo: ODST gets in?

i played through the first level and I have to admit that I'm completely underwhelmed.  Everything felt so typical.  The combat was so dull smashing the attack button over and over.  I enjoyed Dante's demo much more than this game.  I probably need to give it another chance but that will be in awhile.

I have to absolutly agree with this statement. I rented this game (gamepass at blockbuster) I went home played the first level (almost quit playing before I finished the level) Then I immediatly took it out and took it back to blockbuster. I thought the game sucked that bad. But then again that is just me. I didn't like the character design, the graphics were pretty bad, and I really just didn't like anything about it. Dante's on the other hand I just got finished beating it the day before yesterday. I really loved the game. I was going to replay it to get the rest of the achivements but I took it back so I could try out metro 2033. I will get dante's off here after the point value drops some even though I thought it was worth 1000.

Wow, I guess some people just don't feel for games like others. I personally thought Dante's Inferno was a pale, lacking game that had horrid graphics and dumb, pointless gameplay mechanics and I've been really impressed with Darksiders.

To defend the graphics comparison Virgil's entire appearance was pixelated most of the time, the fact that his crown was visibly blockish upset me greatly. Also, the ridiculous differences in graphical quality from the CG scenes, the talking scenes and the in-game models is something that I thought modern game design had outgrown. Especially after all the hype, the systems are capable of maintaining a high level of detail, there shouldn't be three different levels of graphical quality in a game. Darksiders had the occasional details pop into play when it was on something unimportant but they did still happen, yet besides CG the character detail stayed constant in game and in scenes. Dante covered up repetition by blacking out most of the background and they repeated textures like nobodies business. I dunno, Darksiders tried a lot for a new IP and while some of the mechanics were a bit annoying it's heart was in the right place. It's very graphic novel-y though, the style and design reeks of DC and as a comic nerd I really enjoyed it. It's hard to describe, but I rank Dante below Darksiders.

I do understand differences in opinion though since I'm always at odds with people on game quality. I also loathe the story in GoW, I like the gameplay but I think the concept is fail and it upsets me the way the creators made a greek anti-hero seem like an ancient angry biker/Vin Diesel. Bleh.

Since I'm probably offending someone at this point and because I feel like ranting I also dislike Final Fantasy VII (Because it is not so fantastic that it is un-fazed by time, it was impressive when it came out but it's not the best in the genre.) Final Fantasy XIII (Because it takes everything you enjoyed about Final Fantasy games and took it out because they'd rather attract everyone except their fanbase.) and I can't understand why one of my friends can say that Dragon Age: Origins is terrible and repetitive but he plays WoW. Varying likes and dislikes are the root of gamer bitterness. D:

I thought this game was pretty awesome. So far this is my second favourite game this year (FF13 being first, haven't played GoW3 yet). I thought the beginning gameplay was fine, but it does pick up as you acquire all your weapons if anyone does find it slow at first. I also thought the whole design and artwork for the world was great.

As for Dante's Inferno, it's an ok game (and maybe it's just me, but so far, the story sounds really stupid), though nowhere near as good as Darksiders. I'll be trading out DI soon enough, but will probably keep Darksiders.

The best mash-up of God of War, The Legend of Zelda, and Portal out there. Big Smile

I started Darksiders but just couldnt get into it so I traded it without ever finishing it. Everything about it - the bland environments, the repetitive gameplay, the puzzles,  the main character who I didnt give a crap about was boring and after a few days it became a chore to even bother with it.

I havent tried Dantes yet but I assume that it cant be much worse  Smile

Just snagged a copy with the B1G1 at gamestop.  Will chime in with an opinion when it gets here next week.
