bizarrorollins: taintedzodiac: bizarrorollins: I'm still waiting for UPS to deliver my game (it has been listed as "out for delivery" since 8am... 5:30pm now). This will probably be the last time that I actually pay for the day of service delivery, but I knew ahead of time that it was not going to be worth trying to wait in that queue to get this game. My Release Day Delivery packages generally comes around 6-7pm here. Separately from other UPS packages that I get those days. Odd but strangely consistent. It would make sense for them to come that late in the day just so they can avoid having to attempt redelivery, but I really wish that I had known that ahead of time. I wouldn't have stuck around all day expecting the package to come at any moment. Is is really too much to hope that UPS can slightly upgrade their system to actually inform you of when they are going to making a delivery? It's not like they are just circulating around at random... or are they?

For the most part they don't know what their day is gonna be like until they get the truck that morning and see what's in it. They generally know when they'll be in the area but there are a lot factors that can alter the timing so at best any kind of system like that would give you a "cable guy" window. The old 12-4 or 10-2 for example. Could you imagine if you had to make "appointments" to get packages delivered? No one would ever get anything.
I'm in position 606 LOL

I'm 50 something. I don't remember but I was surprised it was so low. I really am not that excited though. I think I'll put it on hold until it drops to 200 or so points.
I bought it today. It's EPIC!

It seems like this would be a bitch to implement, and wouldn't really make people any happier than with the current system. At least now you can influence what position you get. I'd rather they just make the new release time some time other than 1 AM for people in the eastern time zone.

I think I would have preferred having a time frame of when I could have expected my package. As it was, I only knew that it was out for delivery at 8am-- basically anytime during the day they could have shown up waiting for my signature..... So I waited. And do you know what they did? At about 5pm they apparently delivered the package (no one ever rang the bell and as you could tell from my first post, I was most definitely at home). I only found this out when I got a text update at about 7pm telling me that my $60 game and $200 ipod had been sitting outside my house for the previous 2 hours. Yeah, I will not be using UPS any time soon....

If you want them to require a signature upon delivery, you have to pay for it. It's not UPS's responsibility to do anything but deliver the package to your doorstep unless you specifically purchase the service from them. FedEx, DHL (through USPS), and USPS will do the same thing. Sometimes they'll ring, sometimes they won't.

It does seem to be a toss up in my area. Sometimes they wont even ring (in those few instance I'm home during the work week), and other times, they won't leave it despite not needing a signature.
I too get rather uncomfortable with packages just sitting out there, but for the most part it's been alright. One instance a few years ago irked me though. My area in NY had had rain for the past 6 or so days straight, in varying degrees of severity. Knowing this (not to mention it was raining when he left the thing) the driver left the box on the front step...in the rain! No baggie over the box...nothing. The box just about fell apart when I picked it up, but at least the contents were alright. Thx UPS.

the game is definately worth the wait, hell its worth the 60 bucks, but i suppose people would rather pay 1000 points over 60.00 $ for an eight to ten hour game, but i couldnt wait lol
Why do people complain about this? Just shut up and wait like everyone else, I say. If all people in the queue were whiners, the forums would be FLOODED. Oh wait, they are. But I mean REALLY flooded.
(I am not talking about you, I know that you are just trying to save the forums, from the whiny GoW addicts.)v
When the heck is THAT EVER going to happen? GoW:CoO isn't even that low!

Well technically the USPS would just leave a package as well so it's not UPS it's the shipper not requiring a signature upon delivery. Unless you have a nice big mailbox that is.
Wow...my thread got a big reaction LOL!!!
Well I might as well get in on the fun.
