In other words, how do you try to "sell" Goozex to people you know? I personally love the service thus far, and I'm mulling over some different ways of pimping it out to others.
I've tried a bit with the fact you can get new games on a 1:1 trade in basis... I told a buddy about how he could trade in Borderlands and get 1000 points for it, and then turn that around into almost any game out there...
The only thing that people seem to get hung up on is the whole line/no instant gratification thing.... personally, I am not really a day 1 new release buying type of guy, so it doesn't bother me, but I guess that is important to some folks...
People are sick of me talking about the awesomeness of Goozex. I tried to get a few people into it, but I don't think they trust the system. Which I understand as I was skeptical myself at first. But now I realize that most goozers are amazing awesome people!

I'm in primarily a PC oriented ring, so Goozex doesn't really fit the bill to most my friends (though I do mention the killer older titles I've gotten on PC through here on the cheap), but as a few of them acquire consoles, I do try to tell them the awesome they're missing out on. I think despite my thorough review of it, most of them don't fully understand it and get dismayed with the waiting in line as well.

I sold one of my buddies on it, but when he tried to sign up, it would never let him. He never got around to figuring out why, so just uses Gamestop still.
I can't get any of my friends to understand how it works. They get upset that there are lines and you have to wait. So I gave up even trying to explain it. But then they get mad when I get a ton of awesome games in the mail. So it's their loss.
it seems strange that we all have impatient, and possibly slow-witted, friends
I say something like this:
"Take that game to Gamestop, and you'll get 8 bucks. Take it to Goozex, and you'll get 1000 points. If you don't mind waiting a little bit, 1000 points can equal 1 or 2 very good games. What can you get with 8 bucks?"
Unfortunately most people are too stupid to realize that they can get more than 8 bucks for something, cause they don't factor in point to money pricing here. They see it as "oh I get points, but I have to wait" or they worry that they will get screwed over if the site shuts down or people can scam them. There are just too many "what ifs" for the average person to use this for, so they go to gamestop and get raped hard on price.
I've told my best friend 100 times how awesome it is. He's just too lazy to save money. I agree the 1:1 trade out is probably the best point. Some people just don't have the patience either, but once you get rolling you should always have games to play while you await the next to arrive. I do anyways...
I have tried to tell my friends how awesome it and how it works but most of them are happy with giving all their money to gamestop. Oh well. I got two friends to sign up one was a crappy trader and stopped using the site and the other is my brother in law and he is almost as obsessed with Goozex as I am. He refuses to use the forums though. My brother in law got to of his friends to sign up so because of me Goozex has at least 4 more members so thats something.
I've been pushing my friend so incredibly hard to sign up for the service, but I still haven't convinced him just yet. I took his entire list of games and cross referenced them with current value on goozex and assured him of how much he's missing out on not trading the games in at all-- especially for games that he doesn't ever see himself playing again... i'm still doing my best to get him to join, but nothing yet.
I tell my friends I use it. I tell them it's awesome and increases the number of games you pay tenfold if not more. I've even got a few to sign up, but they don't really use it. That's okay. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

i think the biggest issue with my friends is that they wonder why i'm selling something for less than what its worth. Then the conversation generally follows this pattern:
Me: I see you also bought Assassin's Creed II
Them: Yes I did.
Me: I got all the achievements and I have no interest in ever going back to play it.
Them: Me too
Me: I just traded it in and got Borderlands. What's your copy doing?
Them: Sitting there.
Me: will you ever play it again? is it depreciating as we speak?
Them: No, yeah......
Insert sadface.
