i have zero love for bobby kotick and the entire activision family so what ever their price is for dlc has no affect on me, my animosity for them only deepened when they fired the two founding members of infinity ward last week, two of the most talented and gifted developers to ever grace the presence at activision and they fire them.  i hope the cod players are ready for a flood of cod titles coming within the next year they are going to mass produce it more than guitar hero.  as for the price, get used to it, it's only going to get more expensive as time moves along for all games from all publishers

I like Modern Warfare 2's multi more....when people aren't hacking it. But yea, I'm not paying $15 for 3 new maps and 2 maps from the last game. I don't even like Overgrown, so I'd be paying to add a map to the queue I'd rather not play.

I am done with MW2 at the moment thanks to Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Modern Warfare 2 has its problems, a huge list of them from technical exploits, hacks and foul mouth 12 year-olds.  If I wanted to play mods in the first place, I would of bought it for the PC. Having map packs at $15 is too steep and too ballsy of Activision thinking the MW2 community would cough up the dough without question. We all know, they will make a good amount of sales due to its amount of people who still play online. Having the map pack at $5-$10 is what I would pay for if I was still playing MW2.

Lets be honest here.

In many hardcore FPS guys eyes, MW2 has become the next HALO.

With its mainstream appeal, lack of Party chat feature. saturation among youth, MP glitches, exploits and racist 12 year olds, MW2 MP becomes an unpleasant experience.

Adding these problems up, many 'hardcore' gamers are moving on.

Is MW2 a bad game? No.

Is HALO 3 a bad game? No.

Does the culture of XBOX LIVE make them unbearable online and thus earn them monikers of 'mainstream' and 'childish'?  Yes.

Thus I submit my argument that in many ways, MW2 has become the next HALO.

Shunned by the hardcore, it has been delegated to HALO like status among the elite.

Really it was only a matter of time, considering how many COD games are released, whether its Infinity Ward or Treyarch.

I'd argue that the "hardcore" and "elite" are the very core of the Halo and now MW2 player base, and are also the ones driving away a huge chunk of gamers. The adults of the community and the casual gamers are the ones moving on. Of course, I consider a hardcore gamer to be someone who puts gaming ahead of everything else in their life. The majority of people with jobs, bills, etc. would fall into the "adults" group in my mind.

That was yet another big reason PC gamers got in a tizy over this title.  No mod support.  So you really didn't have the choice to begin with.

I'm rather pleased I stuck to my guns and never bought the thing.  It's staying power really was minimal, as I figured all along.

Thank god for Goozex...I was able to try it again on PS3...then quickly get all my points back.  Seems I could only force myself to play it when I had no other choice (spent about 4 hours with Spec Ops when I was without my games in another state visiting family).  Tried to continue this play at home...couldn't bring myself to do it.  Blatant 'screw yous' from the devs aside, I really just didn't care for the title period.

A good point.  I feel this shows the extremes of these types of games. You have to deal with the elite players, who make it their sole mission to pummel lesser players into the ground by any means.  Then you have to deal with the teabagging 12 year olds as well.

I still consider myself to be 'casual hardcore'.  I pretty much play casually, but put way too many hours into gaming to simply be considered casual.  Adults is another good term for it though.

I still feel that games like Halo and MW2 do drive away the shooter fan though.  I consider myself to be a shooter enthusiast, but definitely not 'elite' status, and the atmosphere of these games keep me from coming back.

Yeah I know what you mean. I look at it as just a normal hobby, because if I watched a movie every night, I wouldn't call myself a "hardcore movie buff." Same with everything else in life. Go to work, pay the bills, spend time with friends/family, game if there's time left after that.

Im not the biggest fan of Modern Warfare anyways, but a map pack for 15$ is just absurd.

5 maps, and 2 of them are rehashes at that. Each World at War map pack had 3 NEW multiplayer maps and a zombie map, all for 10$ each.

It's awful value, but Activi$ion knows it'll sell like a beast... and that it will.

Your gamerscore probably makes me laugh.

Xbox 360 - Doominatorx6
PS3 - Doominatorx6 (NEVER on..ever)
Wii - Only play Rabbids games. No point posting it.

I  still play CODMW:2 and I am getting board with it. I don't think 1200 points is any deal, 800 was what I had expected and would purchase at that price. If and it drops I'll buy it.

I wonder if they'll be free on PC, like they were with past CoD titles? They probably will be, but I wouldn't be surprised if Activision decided to charge for them.

Considering they already jacked up the PC price to console levels, I'd be more surprised if they didn't charge $15 for the maps as well. I think map packs should always be free, so I'll never pay for them even if they were $5.

Not sure why I even care since I've never even played MW2, and don't know if I will. Sad thing is, everyone probably just assumes I'm a huge fan due to my unfortunate choice on the last part of my username...(despite the fact it pre-dates the game by a year and a half)

With the IWNet interface, it'll make it super easy for them to charge for this DLC just like on every other platform. I'd be awfully surprised if they didn't charge, but it might be a bone to throw to those gullible PC owners to keep them on board this title just a little longer if it were free.

With no mod support, anyone interested in keeping the title relevant longer needs to buy whatever DLC they'll shovel at them, whereas prior the community would have built these for free.

The price is far too high for a Map Pack. Fifteen dollars and they call it a stimulus Map Pack? What kind of stimulus do the developers need? I think the DLC pricing is starting to get a bit out of hand...
