sterlingdax:The game was better too :P
Agreed. Those map packs were especially appreciated, as each zombie level got better than the one before it. Free on those was always nice as well.
I didn't even catch the irony in the name of the package either. That's rather amusing.

I've got an article on my site awaiting approval and giving my thoughts on it. I'll post the link here once it is up
Black Fox Zulu: I'm sorry, I'm too busy playing Mass Effect 2 to care about MW2 anymore. I did play some MW2 for the first time in about 2 months with kevlar51 this weekend and its the same as I remember it. I doubt I'll be dropping 1200pts on it. Especially when I'm considering trading it out before it drops in value.

I'm too busy playing my second playthrough to be worried about this. And I'm enjoying my FREE DLC!!!

As you can see, some people don't like me telling the harsh truth. xD

Activision has the say on things like pricing so I would point my fingers more that way, I am actually shipping MW2 out this week because of this $15 BS.
A good summary of what's what, G-Nitro. I didn't realize the other two platforms were going to have a wait....maybe that's for the best.
'Graphically Enhanced' COD4 maps? Was there much improvement on the engine to begin with? I didn't notice any myself.
When I heard "Stimulus Package", I thought. Oh, they must be giving away a bunch of maps and content for free, that is nice since they make a crapton off of it.
I didn't realize it was a Stimulus Package for their bank account and worse was the amount for it. $15. You are telling me that those rehash maps are worth a 1/4 of the game?

Nice write up (and a few ridiculous comments).
Just estimating with use of the poll results, <4% feel the pricing the appropriate but ~15% will likely buy it.
Assuming 10 million people are still active with the game (which likely conservative) across all 3 platforms, we're talking roughly $22.5 million in sales.
That's a hell of alot of tacos...or 1 platinum backscratcher for Bobby Kotick.

That's the sad part, these people don't see that they are sheep being led by the people selling them this stuff.
I understand some folks really like the game, I am guilty of overpaying for some things myself, because I like them, but this is too much. Where is the breaking point? $20 $30 $60 for a new set of maps. Wait, for 3 maps with 2 old maps tossed in? I guarantee you they will keep raising the prices until they find out, then the other companies will take note and follow along. Best thing here is for nobody to buy this, but it'll never happen, sadly.
In 5 years when games are $100 per episode and DLC is $50, we can insult people by telling them they are MW2 apologists, and they caused that shite!

Value is completely relative to the individual person, but in this case I wholeheartedly agree with you.
I was one of those sheep who threw $60 into the Activision coffers on day one, which I now have very mixed feelings about. I did get value in terms of how much time I did invest in the game, but the thrill won't be nearly as long lasting as CoD4 or any of the other games that I still enjoy playing to this day.
What saddens me (keeping this strictly in the realm of gaming) is the tens of millions that will go to a greedy, uninspired publisher for trivial content while truly great games in recent years completely underperformed - Psychonauts, Little King's Story, Beyond G&E, the last Oddworld game...and on and on and on.
It's little wonder Activision takes the stance of "We don't want to publish a game unless we can make a sequel every year", considering the way people vote with their dollar. I'm still hoping that bites them in the ass down the road.
I think it is a ripoff. I would go on a ranty rave of extreme hatred and impede traffic and ruin the lives of Infinity Ward until the price is reduced, but MW2 is just so damned fun!!
I remember when Bungie released the Heroic map pack for Halo 3. They restricted half the game types to only people who spent $10 for the content. I gave in and did it, when I shouldn't have. Later they did the same thing with the Legendary map pack. $10 more dollars down the hole just to keep playing. And again with the Mythic map pack. Argh! I know it's my own choice to buy or not, I just don't want to be punished if I don't!
Of course, when ODST came around, they had all the maps included for free... Awesome...

And now that MW2 comes around, you have the option to re-buy the MW maps!
I had a few friends that played W@W with our group that didn't have the map packs, we always had a time finding a game they could play, but we always played.
acsguitar: If the maps are bigger then I'm down. if it's a bunch of tiny maps no thanks

The huge maps in MW2 are terrible for gameplay, save maybe for Afghan. People either only snipe or camp in a building and the matches take FOREVER......
Tiny maps like Rust are ridiculous but med sized one with good points of elevation and sight lines make it fun.
Crash and Overgrown are excellent examples from COD4 so I'm happy to see them brought into MW2
