So, I've wanted a motorcycle since before I can remember. Before he died, my dad told me stories about how before I could walk, I wanted a bike. How on my 1st birthday, I got a toy motorcycle that I carried with me everywhere, like most kids carry teddy bears.
I got some great advice from sterlingdax for gear and whatnot, and what to keep an eye out for. This week, my dream became a reality, when I found a like new 2007 Honda Shadow for about 1200 below book value.
Happy times, indeed.

Very nice! I have been trying to get a hold of my old man's Harley Panhead for a long time now. I don't think it will happen though as I'm sure he will be buried with it. Nothing beats the wind at you back and the road in front of you! Happy Riding.
Oh and remember if you dump it use your body to shield and protect the bike. Words of wisdom from the old man that will be with me forever. After all he could make another kid not another Harley.

I want to ride it so badly, but I refuse to until I've finished piecing together my gear, and I've gotten my endorsement and practiced with my buddy's old dirt bike laying it down some more. Another buddy of mine keeps trying to get me on it, saying you don't need anything but the helmet, and why would I spend so much money on gear when he bought all his for under 100 used. I'm like, it's worth it. Just in case I drop it, I'll be so glad I spent the money to have some top rated gear, rather than the tshirt, shorts, and half helmet he wears.
Also, completely unrelated, but I just finished watching the documentary Second Skin on netflix. Makes me so glad I gave up mmo's a long time ago.

I sold my bike last summer, but I remember the excitement when I first got it... Enjoy it - there's nothing else in this world that compares to riding a motorcycle.
