Too Human got really bad reviews. I picked it up anyway and loved it.
But for the most part, bad reviews mean the game actually is bad. But as cheez pointed out, good reviews often don't mean jack.
ferrari: I'm really tempted to get Far Cry 2 right now, but it has wildly mixed reviews. It's only 150 points right now, it's graphics look amazing, and gameplay looks similar to Crysis.(Minus the alien that is) It's that, GTA SA, Hitman BM, or re-getting Fable or Assassin's Creed... the choices the choices...

I was on the fence with Far Cry 2 as well, I I got it and am enjoying it a LOT.
Also, Hitman Blood Money is one of my favorite games EVER. Look up "Hitman Blood Money Gameclub Rebel FM" to hear a good podcast about it.

seniorgato: Mercenaries 2. I heard nothing, but complaints and I just didn't understand it. Especially after the demo. Are there bugs? Yep. In fact, I had to restart a mission once from a bug, but for like $15 at the time, I'll forgive. People dogged the graphics, the gameplay and the bugs, but none were bad enough to really pull out the waaaambulance. I'll leave the rest of the sale pitch behind, but I really had a ton of fun with it.

I love and am currently playing this game. I don't understand the hate at all.
ghostworld: I just got Deadly Premonition, first because it sounded kind of cool. Second, because it got insanely bad reviews and I had to play it to see how bad it is. I'm hoping its so bad its funny. Not so bad its unbearable... we shall see.

Me too. It might have bad voice acting and sound, but hopefully that doesn't effect the storyline. I love games like Silent Hill, Fear Effect, and Resident Evil so I think I will probably like Deadly Premonition. I've found that most games are not as awful as the critics or others say.

LOL I actually got this game Wednesday, played it for a bit. The graphics are horrible, and the cut scenes are weird, not sure where the story was going. But all that I can deal with, it was the clunky controls. I tried and realized i just couldn't get past the controls, put it back up on Goozex and sent it out to someone Thursday LOL.
But as bad as most reviews are, I have read reviews where people fully enjoyed the game. So Perhaps you'll like it.
I picked up White Knight Chronicles from goozex and have enjoyed it so far regardless of people giving it "bad' reviews.
Rogue Warrior was pretty bad, but I was thinking about Quantum of solace for $10 for ps3, how bad could it be

kingofoldschool:I enjoyed Superman Returns, Viking, and Conan
I just walked in the door with a copy of Viking that I found in a second-hand store. It had better be good.
I got it for $10 with an XXL T-Shirt, and traded it for 300 points I think... The game was awful.
EDIT: Forgot to clarify what I got '300' of.
MY TACO IS BIGGER THAN YOURS!!!!!
I'll take reviews into consideration but ultimately I'll play a game that I want to play no matter what. These days it seems to be useless checking out reviews and peoples comments anyway since most of them are negative about every single game, movie, etc. People are way too critical. Kind of makes me miss the days when all you had to rely on for games was word of mouth, nintendo power, and a gaming hotline if you were dumb enough(like me) to call one when stuck on a game. Anyways, opinions on all these games are subjective for the most part. So the people who dislike certain type of games or series', are going to say they're all bad games no matter what the truth is.
Yeah. I was just playing it and wow its kind of bad all around.

Totally agree with you there! I remember picking up Clash at Demonhead for the NES at a KB Toys (whatever it was called back in the 80's, I forget) only because the cover was badass. And when I say badass, I mean it as in the cover of Mega Man 2 badassness! Such a great game Clash turned out to be! Most of it didn't make sense, but it was so fun to play and the ending was top notch!
Last week I played the demo for the game Fairytale Fights for the first time. The title of the game sounded kind of weird and lame, but I was a little drunk and my friend recommended it, so I tried it out, and I couldn't believe my eyes. First off, the game is a cartoon... but it's also one of the bloodiest things you'll ever see. It was absolutely hilarious, and I loved it immediately.
Seeing as I'd never heard of it before, I looked it up to find out it was only $15, despite having been released only about 6 months ago. Then I saw the game reviews... they were universally pretty terrible, but I figured for only $15, with how awesome the demo was, could it really be that bad?
Turns out, the reviews were pretty right about weak gameplay... as I got to about 20 minutes in, I realized that the repetitive hack-and-slash play certainly left something to be desired, and I was a little let down by having spent $15 on it. But then I thought back to 30 seconds into the story: I was a cartoon caricature of the Naked Emperor, skipping around with a smile on my face while I stabbed and beat lumberjacks with an oversized carrot (until I could steal their axes, at least). Thinking back on that moment, I realized that the glee I got out of that simple act, I got back every single time I picked up a new weapon to see what kind of damage it could do, from the marshmallow-on-a-stick to the wooden chainsaw (if you've ever wanted to bash somebody's head in with a cuckoo clock, you can do that here too).
I'm still not super far into the game, but I can say that even with uninspired gameplay, if you've got a strong enough stomach to watch excessively violent cartoon character death, or you ever had that feeling that joining a fight club would be a cool idea, I would highly recommend checking this game out, even just for a little while... because while I haven't played it very long, it has already been well worth the meagre cost I put into it. Plus, I'm sure it'll only get crazier when I start up multiplayer with friends!
Yeah, I loved clash at demonhead. I never ended up finishing it but I kept playing it.
well, sometimes i rent it or play the demo, if i like it i will buy it.
